I ended up toggling through the screens and the start/stop was off because I was using the AC. Thank you all for the input. Mystery solved.

It won't activate if AC/heat is on from what I experienced. I thought I read a while back that someone didn't have the auto start/stop module installed at the factory.
I didn't read all of the responses, so apologies if already mention. This is absolutely false. ESS/ASS doesn't care if AC or heat is on. Doesn't kick on a whole lot in this Texas heat, but it still does. Especially in the mornings. I normally don't mind it, but when it's flippin hot out, I turn it off, just in case.

Wrong! It does care. If cabin temp is not up to setting or if AC is on max then it wont.
and the center panel will report it as such.

You can also have it permanently OFF by disconnecting the left hood plunger switch ...

Read what I wrote, sir. The AC or heat being on doesn't matter. What I said is 100% true. I did not touch on cabin temps being anywhere. Just that it does not matter if the AC is off or on. Stipulations while it's on? Sure, but it being on does not equal ESS not working.

Ok. It won't activate when my ac or heat is on. I was just stating how mine acts. Chill out. I honestly don't know why people are so upset about the auto start/stop. If you don't like it , get a programmer and permanently turn it off.

This says the heat / AC does affect it.

I'm not sure why this is turning into an argument. There are parameters that aren't met in certain circumstances that prevent it from activating. I don't know what they are besides what I see from experience and I truly don't care because it doesn't bother me when it activates. If I remember right, the OP stated his never activates, right? Unless there is something wrong, I'm sure there had to have been at least one situation where it activated. I would drive your jeep, ac/heat off, come to a stop, make sure you stay in drive and see if it works. It won't activate if the vehicle is in park. If it doesn't activate and the reason on the dash doesn't make sense, I would take it in, unless it's not under warranty. Then maybe it's not worth it. Just my two cents.

Wow. Reading really is fundamental. It states the cabin is cooling or heating. Not that the AC or heat is on or off. I have now owned two completely separate and distinct Gladiators. I assure you, just because the AC or heat is in the ON position, doesn't not mean that ESS/ASS will not work. If it's 80 in the cabin and you have the auto thermostat set to 68, then no, it will not work. If the thermostat is set to 68, and the internal temp is 68 or below/above, then it absolutely will work.

I will stipulate that I have not tried it with the AC ON. I always use the auto feature. If that is part of a misread or miscommunication on my part, then I apologize.

I see the current argument is about AC/Heat being on/off. I just want to throw out an alternative here. Mine would say the AC/Heat thing but when the cabin was at temp, my constant issue was that the battery was never charged enough to operate the ASS. I ended up taking it in to the dealership and they had to charge the battery. NOW, I had my truck towed to the dealership for the 3rd time for battery/other options. The second time, both batteries and my fuse box was replaced. Not sure if it's all tied together or separate issues, but just wanted to throw it out there just in case.

You all need to stop replying to this thread. Every time I see the title, I think someone isn't able to sit down for some reason.

I don’t mind ESS around town at traffic lights but mine seems to decide to start doing it’s thing right as I pull into my driveway and as I’m reaching to put it in park. Nothing goofier than pulling in, the engine cuts off, I put it in park, the engine cuts back on, I turn it off. My neighbors probably think I’m an idiot.
