Need travel trailer towing advice

Alright I need someone who is more knowledgable than me to help with the direction I am going with a travel trailer. Wife and I are looking at getting a travel trailer and it will be just be me and her camping. I attached some info from what I have found on the Jeep. But I am a little confused from the owners manual. Is mine the 6000 max gtw or the 4500? Window sticker and build sheet info attached shows towing package (not max tow) It is a Sport S so I was assuming the 6000 but keep seeing in forums and hearing that 4500 is the max? So far camper looking I want to stay small and under the 3500lb range with the camper. Any additional info or direction would greatly help.

There are 2 ways I can think of to see what a vehicle can tow. For the Gladiator's, if it has the 4.10 rear end, then it should have the max towing limit for your model. The other way is to drop the VIN into Camping World's checking tool: https://rv.campingworld.com/towguide and go by that. I have seen "version bias" with Camping World's tool but overall it's pretty good.

Also -- I've only seen the 4500lbs with the manual transmission and 3.73 ratio. For automatics it's 6000 with the 3.73.

You have an automatic transmission Sport with the standard (non-Max) tow package, your tow limit is 6,000 pounds. It's not 4,500 pounds, and it sure as hell isn't the max tow limit of 7,650 pounds either -- it's 6,000 pounds.

Well that helps. As from above I kept hearing 4500lbs so that is why I kept the trailer looking at 3500lbs max to have extra room and not get to close to the 4500. So now I can go up some on trailer weight while looking for one.

I have the Overland with the tow package and my limit is 6,000 lbs. Mine was ordered in 5/19 and delivered 7/19.

I tow a 27' travel trailer that is around 5,100 lbs with all we want or need. I shift the 8sp manually and almost never see 8th. I typically run in 7th at no faster than 65 MPH at around 2,100 RPMs and get around 13 MPGs.

This is the trailer I tow (see below)...it's a Venture Sonic SN220VRB. It's a 2021 but according Venture's website, the weight of newer models are now around 400-500 lbs heavier than mine. But, since it's just the Bride and me, it's perfect for us. Opinions may vary but we really like ours.

Do you have a 2022? If it says 6000 pounds in your owner's manual I'd go with that. I bought a '23 Willys Sport S after following one of these capacity threads thinking I could tow 6000#s and, once I had my shiny new owner's manual in my hands, found out that they dropped the towing capacity down to 4500#s. I then rented a tow dolly from U-Haul and their computer automatically entered 7000#s when the guy was filling out the form. I'm going with that because U- Haul would never assume liability by renting a trailer over rating, would they? Anybody know why they dropped the rating between '22 and '23?

Yes, that is correct. Up to 6,000lbs with a 5x11 frontal area is safe.

To stay within the given parameters, you'll still need to do the math of:

Payload - (People and Cargo Weight + Trailer Tounge Weigh) <= 1839lbs AND Trailer Weight < 6,000lbs

Assuming two average American adults, a 38lb border collie, cooler, snacks, clothes, etc. being in the truck and not the trailer:

1839 - (725 + 600) <= 1839

514 <= 1839

In this circumstance, I'm very jealous of your payload, more than 800lbs greater than my Diesel JTR... and I want to say a lot of full size 1500's out there.

Towing capacity depends on transmission and whether or not a factory Tow Package is installed. For most models, the rating is 6k pounds with an automatic and a factory installed Tow Package. What does the window sticker show?

Based on your window sticker there, auto trans, factory tow package, NOT Max tow, Rubi or Mojave, 6,000 lb tow capacity, period.

Somebody screwed up in the data entry at your loan place, and your insurance company took it off the loan documents. It's a Sport.
