Love this forum.

Traded 2022 Overland for 2024 Mojave X and I am flat amazed the way the truck rides and handles.

Want to go to 35’s but increase in weight has me questioning if they compromise suspension or ride?

76 y/o grandpa that drives mostly highway but like to take grandkids and dog on mild jeep trails.

Have read every post on the 35’s and they say or imply they will increase ride quaility but on the fence.

Efforts in the past “to make dirt bike, street bikes, cars & trucks Better sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t

Welcome!! I’m curious what others say…. I have a 24’ Mojave with stock 33’s. I’m 57 and 5’5”….. I use slider steps to get in and can’t touch the ground when getting out (I slide out).

I would absolutely LOVE to go 35’s and new wheels….but my ’older self’ says to stay with the 33’s.

I’m sure my husband would convince me to go with 35’s and some more ‘exercise program videos’ to keep my body in shape!!! 😂

Hey there and welcome here! There's some great trails in MO; I took the wife and kids on a decent little trail along Lost River Rd; from Wright City to the vineyards near Washington/Augusta area. One portion of it, about half a mile I suppose, you drive in the river bed...which was full of water that first time I went. Neat drive for a picnic.

I want to ask you, what makes the ride better in a Mojave vs Overland...or did you mean other non Jeep vehicles? I have a Rubicon and it's always on my mind about the Mojave that slipped away...

The answer to your question.. Varies by how the BUTT feels.. Have run 35s for 3+ yrs (2nd week owning).. Tire load range is a major (IMO) for ride feel.. I have Load "C" Toyo 35x11.50s. Next is PSI .. Did a "Chalk Test" and now run at 24-25 psi COLD = Ride quality Feel. The wheels are Am Racing 8.5" width and 4.5" Backspace. Good Luck with your decision.

I have to admit, my Mojave has an excellent ride quality! All I can guess is it's the Fox reservoir shocks and Falken Wildpeaks.

Drive it stock for a while and see how it works for you. The bigger tires are not necessary, and may not be beneficial for your use.
That's not how you empty every pocket.

I have a 21 Mojave that has 35” Venoms and it actually rides and drives better. My wife even made a comment about how much better it handled and the ride.

I agree with most of the responses, drive it stock for awhile. I'm 70 and previously wheeled 4x4s since the mid 1970s, but due to vision issues, i don't drive anymore. My wife drives (she started driving jeeps at age 12) and we both iove our 21 JTM with stock 33 Wild Peaks MT. The handling with the stock Mojave tires and suspension is great. The JTM rides well on long stretches of 2 lane roads and interstates. as well as NW Montana's mud, snow and ice.
We have no grand kids but plenty of visitors whom like to see the back roads and trails in our area. All really like the ride our Mojave proviges in its stock configuration.

The only thing we might change, is switching to 33, 3-Peak ATs for even a better ride.

Enjoy your JTM travels and adventures.

I am on Jeep #30.
I ordered a Mijave the day the order banks opened.
The ride on the Mojave is night and day better than the Rubicon Gladiator that I had before it.

Also, I lifted with the AEV kit with geometry correction brackets.
Went with Nitto 35s at first, then after moving to the PNW, I needed a better snow tire.
I went with Geolander MT 37", and they have been phenominal.

Congratulations on your new Mojave X!!

If you stick with these tires, and your stock wheels, weight will not be an issue:

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T LT255/85R17 tires weight: 63 lbs - Overall diameter: 34.6"

Factory tires - Falken Wildpeak A/T LT285/70R17 come in the same at 63 lbs - Overall diameter: 32.8"

It is what I will be doing when the time comes to change/replace tires. They do not stick out and work with stock wheels.

Let us know what you end up doing.

@Silverthump74 I will probably try 35s, at some point, with the idea that I might be able to run a little less air in the tire, and take out some of that punchiness of smaller bumps/rocks, but I honestly haven't needed to.

Assuming AT3s, before going to 35s, you might try a couple of options ( if you haven't already ):
- if your bed is empty, trying running 37psi in the front, and either 35/36psi in the back
- if you have 100lbs to 200lbs of cargo in the bed, run 37psi all the way around
- if you have 400lbs of cargo in the bed, maybe run 39psi in the back
- on gravel, sometimes an increase of driving 5mph or 10mph faster will smooth out the bumps
- offroad, try dropping to 20psi and keeping it under 40mph ( air back up for the road )
- offroad, manually disconnect your front swaybar ( connect back for the road )

^^^ using those options, I've been able to soften the ride in small/medium increments, and it's less expensive than new tires and retains my OEM mpg on the road

I think we should meet up w/ someone that is running 35s on their Mojave, and try it out, during a fall run for viewing foliage colors. ;-)

Take a look at the C rated 315 BFG KO's. They will fit on the stock wheels, will fit with no lift and are very light weight for their size. I got 60K miles out of a set on my JLRD with proper rotations.
