My wife did a remote start on my truck, it ran 2 or 3 minutes while we put coats on to head to town. It was about 0 (F) or so.

We got in, pulled out of the driveway and headed to town. Our road has a few homes on it so the speed limit is slow plus I don't drive hard and fast until I see the oil temp coming up a tad and coolant starting to warm. So I was going maybe 30-35 up the hills, foot very steady on the throttle and I could hear and feel the engine surge - sped up a tiny bit, slowed a bit, sped up a bit, slowed a bit, sort of as if I was driving a carbureted car on the highway and it was running out of gas or had a plugged fuel filter- sort of lean acting. It came out of it but of course we hit more level ground and I moved my foot to adjust speed accordingly. But for a few seconds I could feel the whole truck barely speed and slow right along with the sound of the engine. I didn't get a chance to look at the tach as it happened so quickly and stopped almost as quickly.

At one other time I THOUGHT I felt similar but then with Meniere's sometimes I don't know if it's me or what. Now I believe the earlier instance was indeed a surge but it was a whole lot more mild and it was warmer.

I think Dave has talked about throttle input "oscillations" but I don't want to make a connection that doesn't exist - it was weird and until recent weeks I've never felt such a thing with this truck. The engine has been absolutely perfect in every way - it's smooth, perfect idle, no misfires, no roughness, nothing.

So - to make this a question - has anyone else experienced what I'd call a surge when driving at slower speeds - say, 30-40 or so, steady foot on the throttle?
If so -was it cold, hot/warm, was the engine warmed up or not?

There's no way to reproduce it that I can tell - I drove it yesterday and never felt it.

I literally just had that happen last week. It was below freezing, in the teens some where. Engine would race, but I got no speed from it. Couldn't go more than 20 mph, even once the engine was warm. Took it to the dealership figuring I had bad fuel, turns out the throttle body was bad.

That's a weird one.......... if it warms up tomorrow I'll check mine again for codes but it's never had any MIL come on and there's never any codes stored. (garage is 0 degrees inside, no heat, my shop is too full to get truck inside to work on it)
