I have a 2021 JTM with 21K miles. Everyone has been reading post about how bad the main and aux batteries are and scaring the heck out of many on these forums.
I have not had any issues with my batteries. I would like to know if any of you have NOT had any issues and what are we doing different than others.
I do not have any additional electronics except my GMRS radio and soon a winch. I am in the habit of turning off the auto stop / start when ever I am in the jeep. There are many times that my jeep does not get driven for 7-10 days and it starts up with no issue.

Just wondering!!
No issues here, 46,000 miles on my 2021 Willys sport and I NEVER shut off my stop/start.

On a sort of related topic: I've been plugging my Noco charger into the USB in the console to keep it charged. I've tried looking in the manual to see if it is on always or only when the ignition is on. If the former, I'll remove it. There are enough battery issues without me causing more.

If I remember correctly, the USB ports stay active for about an hour after the ignition is turned off.

2020 Rubicon. My aux battery died about 2 years ago; never been replaced, with no impact on the rest of the vehicle. Start/stop inoperable, main battery is original.

You know this because it was charged and tested.......or are simply guessing because ESS stopped working?

It's not common, but possible. It depends on the state of the battery when it fails. I ran with a dead Aux battery for six months. I would get the ESS disabled message and the light on the dash every day from the Aux failing the startup test. The Main battery was only six months old and was one of the 850CCA 94R batteries, so that may have affected the results.

A battery can just as easily fail with an open or poor internal connection. In that case it's as if it wasn't there. No drain on the main.
Those of us with diesel tractors and two or four batteries could see that.

Yeah, forgot about a open fail, so it is plausible. Just never have come across a open failed battery, all were shorted.

I should clarify that with age the short grows more likely as material drops to the bottom ....

ESS stopped working. The message light on my dashboard saying "aux switches temporarily unavailable, battery charging" is on most or all of the time. Been that way since 2022. I have not touched the aux battery, charged it, or tested it because I don't care. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. ESS doesn't work, which makes me happy.

My Viking 450 jump box cried when I tried to start the 3.0 with 9.2 bolts showing on the v-meter

My buddy sent his son over to jump me off with his NOCO GB150 with 3000amps and the ability to jump up to a 7L diesel. It giggled at the 3.0. I swear it started before I hit the start button.

drove it to the dealer after 2 1/2 hours they came out and told me the batteries were fine but they gave it a good charge.

I made another Amazon purchase.

7:49pm…it’s dead again. Guess I’ll be at the dealer at 12pm tomorrow.
