I’ve received several. I used to put them on the dash, but found them to be a distraction. I stuck them in the console about a year ago, and haven’t had any since. If giving and receiving them is your thing, that’s cool. As for me, I don’t care to participate. It’s kind of a nice thought though.

So I may sound like an old person complaining about a new age thing, but is anyone else annoyed by people placing these ducks on their vehicle? I am an "old school jeeper" I guess. I bought my first Jeep(88YJ) the day I turned 15(25ish years ago) and have the old school mentality I guess of you don't touch someone's vehicle if you don't know them. And I know the Jeep duck stuff is a newer phenomenon started by a mom in Canada or what ever the back story is. Honestly I don't see how some of these people I see coming down the road can even see due to the reflections stretching all the way across their dash.

Other than getting on here to rant about how I don't believe people should touch your vehicle let alone leave something on it, is there a way other than having no ducks on my dash to let these people know not to leave these on my truck? When they do its just going to the trash or my dog.

And yes I am sure I am going to upset some of you with my opinion on this but it is what it is. Some of you love this new sort of "jeep thing" but I am sure there are others that also cant stand it. I just really want to know how to avoid getting these left on my truck.

Thanks for any helpful advice and for listening to my rant.

i'm just about to turn 38... all these 40 year olds in here sounding like 70+ year olds makes me wonder how much I'm going to change in the next 2 years.

in two+ years of ownership i've gotten 3 ducks. I've given them all to my 3 year old. He loves them. What kind of ducks are people placing on your Jeep that you're worried about damage?

People are literally in here commiserating while simultaneously complaining about people getting off their lawn. That should tell you something.

Do not judge people by their age. There are some people that cannot accept things given in good spirit and with no ill intentions regardless of their age. There are much worse things left on vehicles than a small rubber duck but not any ranting about those that I see. Leave a message on your vehicle telling people not to leave anything on it because it is yours and then get ready because rubber ducks are going to be irrelevant compared to the things you will find on your vehicle. Your vehicle your choice.

I don’t care for the duck thing, think it is kind of silly and people’s dashes look ridiculous. However, I’d be a bold faced liar if I said that the two I’ve gotten haven’t made me smile because of all the things that people can do to “mess with your vehicle”, adding a small rubber duck in an obvious place and doing no damage, only to give a compliment is probably one of the nicer things people do nowadays.

I’ll get off your lawn with my dog and the pooper scooper bag now.

One of the unique things about buying a Jeep is, unbeknownst to me, I joined a community. I like fellow Jeepers giving the wave, I like that when my jeep broke down, three Jeepers stopped and asked if I needed help. And yes, I even like the Ducking. I get it, not for everyone. First time it happened, I was confused, lol, but now it brings a smile to my face and some have even made me laugh. My kids really enjoy it and if it wasn't for them not sure I would participate. People placing a duck on your door handle is not the same as people "Messing with your car", soo many other things to get angry about. Now if someone can tell me how to make a dog stop pissing or crapping on a lawn with a silly sign once they start....I'll wait?

Yeah, you get "Pesticide Treatment, Hazardous to Pets and Children" signs and put them up all over your yards border. Works quite well.

In no way does it make me angry, also in no way do I think its going to damage my Jeep. But its an annoyance I don't want. Probably more so for the point @Sweetums made in that most are accompanied by someone else's opinion or advertisement. The car culture rule of not touching someone else's vehicle doesn't mean that any touch will damage it, its about respecting someone else's property. Like how they don't let you touch a painting at the museum, some are roped off and some aren't but everyone knows you don't touch it. By no means is my truck a work of art, but unwritten rules on boundaries are just that.

And @Gvsukids I performed a quick search to see if there was an existing thread and most of the search popped up posts from people saying they got ducks not talking about how to send the message that I don't want them.
