Pretty sure that works to some extent in town, but as was mentioned earlier, it requires use of the brake system, long highway runs don't do it
It recharges off brakes AND/OR the engine. The system can and will use the 2.0 as a generator. It even has a mode (e-save) that literally lets you toggle it as a generator while driving so that if you are trying to top off the battery for some silent off roading at the destination you can hit that button and it will recharge slowly. In that 400 mile Texas trip you can actually charge it back to 100% by time you get there.

I'm corrected.... but yes it would likely take 400 miles of sub 20 mpg driving, probably 2 tanks of fuel to recharge it....

Lotta people here who hate forward progress.
120 years ago you would have been crying about moving from your horse and carriage over to a Model T

Personally I cannot wait for a 4xe Glad Mojave. I’d trade in as soon as I could order. (Especially if I could get it in Gecko!)

Spend no money on gas during the week as I take my son to school/run errands.

When I go wheeling I’ll use gas like normal.

It’s a win/win.

Let's be crystal clear on one immutable fact, not all change is progress...

Incandescent to CFL, progress ?????

Ok. The 6th & 7th words of my opening line were “forward progress”

PHEV has been around for 10+ years in the US. It works well for many people.

There are many people who reject it just because it’s different. Foolish.

Adding a word doesn't change the meaning, can you have backwards progress? let's not play "what the meaning of IS IS"

AND, considering that electric cars pre-date gas cars, is it still progress or regression to move to electic today?? We're the people that were not excited about gas in 1886 also rejecting "forward progress"? If so, then the folks today aren't actually haters...

Perspective is important

Lol ok. It is progression. Is it the end-all, be all right now? No. But it’s a necessary step forward to get off the fossil fuels.

I like options, but why is it necessary to move away from fossil fuels?

Diesel on bio does that also, I'm curious how you know that current electric vehicles are not the CFL bulbs of the auto world? Why force the evolution and not let it happen naturally, it's almost as some people think the oil companies have no clue at all that thier product has a finite supply....

Windmills, destroy the view of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Mojave, but hey "forward progress"

Yes and no.

While there will be no JT's with factory V-8's for sale, there ARE a handful of factory V-8 JT's with manufacturer plates.
Dealer plate maybe, but manufacturer plate no

Manufacturer plate yes. There were 4 of them at Kokomo plants when I was working the 2.0 engine retool. They are Corporate vehicles never designated for retail sales. Not the first company to do it, won't be the last. When they've lived their life, they will be crushed.
