^^^Best post of the thread, IMO. LOL!
I disagree.
Equating a military salute to a Jeep wave is nonsense.
May as well include the Harley owners cool lowdown
wave.
Sure it’s a sign of familiarity and joint camaraderie of vehicle ownership.

A military salute is much more.

Not sure what you mean, what military salute are you talking about, Forrest Gump? That is not a military salute by any standard imaginable, and as far as I know it comes from a movie, although a great one is fiction.

And I doubt anyone was equating it to the military, I believe the post was made relative to this thread, grownups whining about people waving to them because they have a vehicle from the same manufacturer. A first world problem indeed! LOL

So everyone has their own wave now - LOL!

Lighten up, don't look for "ghost" when none need to be found.

I'm sure I get some weird looks when I wave to Jeeps when I'm in my DD Leaf. It's a hard habit to break having done it for so long.

The wave started to show the other person you had no weapon and meant no harm. I always have a weapon.

Read post 285 again..
Then tell me again about not “equating it to the military”
I don’t appreciate the perception of it being equal.
No I will not “lighten” up MY opinion because I am entitled to it, just as you are to yours.

Dude, I have no clue what you are talking about at this point...I never referred to P285, I refered to P276 with Forest Gump waving...Indicating how awsome it was.

And you then responed to my post (I suppose going off on P285 which I never referenced)...So unless you have a beef with Forest Gump waiving LOL! I think we can go our sepearte ways.

Be well.

Actually, the wave thing was a "thing" in the early70's when seeing another jeep was a VERY rare thing(CJ-5's or old Willis) . That was WAY before jeeps were thought to be "cool"

Where I live today, almost every other vehicle is a jeep so the wave has kinda lost its brotherhood appeal.

But hey, now you get a duck......LOL

That's the thing here - every-other vehicle is a Jeep. They are driven by everyone from 85 year olds to teens to ladies in their 20s and 30s, women with their 10 year old daughters, you name it.

Today - as usual saw dozens and dozens of Jeeps- a number of Wranglers, and 3 Gladiators.
Here's the kicker - the Gladiator drivers didn't even glance, several of the Wrangler drivers did the wave. Ironic.

I’ve only had the Mojave just over a month but 85% of the Wranglers and Mojaves wave if we’re on a 2 lane road or non-divided highway. It’s fun and makes the wife and I laugh. It’s a nice distraction from the gestures people could be making!

This all depends where you live.

I'd argue my area has the most Jeeps per Capita. It's crazy.

A ton of Wranglers and Gladiators wave. Stock and modded.

Now if I go into the big city, not a single person will wave.

Well said! I was not in the military but I do respect the job they do. My dad was Air Force SAC. Never talked about his job or what he did. It's just a GIF(Meme) to say hey what's up. I wave. It had nothing to do with the military or a salute. I wave at all Jeep's regardless of their genetics. 1941-present.

I traded in a 2020 Willys for my 2021 Gladiator. I seem to get just as many waves as I did in the Wrangler.
Yesterday a stranger asked me if Jeeps wave at me in the Gladiator. He told me he doesn’t wave at them because they aren’t a real Jeep. LOL

Shallow thinking IMO. I told him that I didn’t buy my vehicle to be waved at.
Jeep started making trucks in 1947 I believe.
