My dealer wants to see broken parts or a failure of some type before they do a warranty replace. But first void the warranty due to my mods. I will probably end up looking for a lightly used one .

My 2021 JLUR would do it on cold days. My habit was to make a brief pause in neutral before going into drive and it would never clunk. This vehicle did not have any hard shifts though for the 59,000 miles I had it, only the clunk from park. I haven't noticed it yet with the 2025 JT, but it's also not been incredibly cold yet and I'm still making a brief pause at neutral before going into drive.

To do the flash I have to deal with the Tazer. then re do the Tazer. My Jeep dealer said that a re flash would not fix it. I wish the thing would just die. I hate waiting for the failure. My cold 3-4 shift is a real bump. I have looked and called several places and no one knows much about the ZF trans.
There has been a tsb out for this for almost a year. Your D clutch and backing plate are warped and/or broken. The fix is is replacement of the rear output shaft assembly. Parts are available. Be sure your dealer has a transmission guy doing the rebuild, not a general mechanic. Not a difficult fix, but 4 special tools are needed.

I saved the old transmission for a rebuild option.

So when/ if the trans fails and I do get it to the dealer. Then I un marry the taser and all settings go to factory. The dealer does a diagnostic a then a test drive. The tires and 4.88s throw a light show on the dash. Then they replace the trans,,, LOL. Then they re flash for the new trans and do another test drive.
It all seems a bit conflicting with the 4.88s and 37s and the conflict with factory settings, vs the Tazer settings that have to be removed for the dealer. So no test drive by the dealer without the Tazer installed and dealer will not install it and prog.
My trans has not failed yet but when it does, getting the dealer to deal with it might no be easy unless I am missing something.

Excuse my ignorance, but does the Tazer not permanently flip the hard settings like the gear ratio and tire size so they remain when unmarried?

I know the flashcal plus+ does. It rewrites it in the Computer. 99% positive Tazer does also . Its just the live functions that dont work with Tazer or Flashcal unplugged .

When you un marry the Tazer it automatically puts the original settings back in from the factory. It's a bit of a PITA and I am thinking about going with a different device.

My dealer service manager says most of them do it and never fail. Well mine really hit today and chirped the tires in the garage when I put it in reverse. Then driving it , it was just fine. What is that doing to the rest of my drivetrain? I wish the stupid thing would just fail as I fear it will hurt other drivetrain parts that will someday also fail.

Mine does the same now and again, it's not harsh but noticable. I think (mine) really depends on the angle parked on, my driveway is bias pretty down hill, and it'll give a little clunk going into R/D depending if I pull in it back in respectively. I'm chalking that up to coming out of the parking gear and whichever drive gear taking the weight. Could probably tease that out better with the parking break, just haven't gotten around to it

Mine has been the same since day one. Over 70K miles and no issues at all. As some have said, my driveway is angled so it depends on how I park and the weather. I usually hop right in and start it immediately or remote start it so it warms some before putting it in gear. That definitely helps the clunking. Nothing I can do about the driveway angle. But again over 70K flawless miles other than a dead battery.
