they will be used a low speed, aimed towards the sides. We’ll see how it goes. If I don’t like it I’m sure I can find another use for them. Thanks again
Great thing with Diode Dynamics lights is you can easily swap out lenses to different patterns and colors. For the 6” bars you have, they’re only $3 each.

KC Flex Era 4’s on the bumper in combo spread/spot pattern. Amber lenses on them for snow driving. I remove the amber covers to expose the white with red rings for off road. Oracle reverse lights in the bumper. Very happy with the whole setup.

Update, just drove through my first mountain blizzard in the middle of the night since these KC’s were installed. They were amazing. Game changer.

KC slimlites on the cowl, Diode Dynamics on the bumper. Planning to add more Diodes to the rack when I get motivated.

Not purchased yet, but my current (tentative) plan is:

-BlackOak LED 40" or 50" single row bar (spot) mounted to a Rhino Rack on the roof. This will be just behind the Freedom panels (so Bestop Sunrider can still open). Hoping I don't lose too much light shining on the roof since it'll be set 2-3' back from the windshield. Tied into high beams

-Diode Dynamics SSC2 Pro (flood) mounted into the front side of the mirrors. Tied into high beams

-Diode Dynamics SS3 Max (driving) mounted in the traditional ditch light spot at the edge of the hood, angled outwards a little bit to mitigate hood glare. Tied into high beams.

-Rigid Industries SR-series 6" (hyperspot) on Go Rhino Cowl hinge mounts. Tied into high beams

-Diode Dynamics SS3 Max (Amber SAE fog) mounted in Rugged Ridge Arcus bumper holes. Wired into factory fog light switch via relay.

-Considering Oracles skid plate lights in amber. Also tied into fog lights.

-Oracle rear bumper reverse lights. Tied into reverse...

Honestly I've never heard of a lighting company suggesting flood lights above the hood and yes I feel like you'll get more Hood reflection from floods than from a spot beam for sure. Bad thing is it's hard to find a light bar that's either all flood or all spot I used to have to have them custom made like that they are normally a combo which is better served above the windshield.

I guess if you turn them more to the left and right it would take away some of the hood glare but you can see mine in the picture and even my spots have some Hood glare if those were floods it would be almost all the way across my hood in the front.
I just wanted to get back to your post and say that after mounting these I can definitely say you were 100% correct. The flood pattern was completely wrong for the cowl mount. I just switched to wide beam/fog lenses and it’s much better as far as glare goes. I also ordered the driving lenses to try out as well. Just wanted to thank you for your post. ?

Man I’ve been going back and forth recently on this subject. What brand, beam pattern, mounting options etc. I decided today to run Diode Dynamics 6” bars in a flood pattern on the cowls for ditch lighting. I ordered everything today. As far as down range lighting I’m either going to get some DD SS5 lights for the bumper or a Light bar.
Please post a pic once they are installed. This is probably the route I’m going too With the exception of them being the driving pattern.

Flood was a bad choice so I switched to the wide/fog lenses which I like so far. I also ordered the driving lenses as well. If you use the same mounts just know that the design of the DD bars is a little narrow for the mount. I just shimmed each side with some flat washers to fill the gap. I also bought some m6x 20mm buttonhead bolts to use. I think the GoRhino mounts are designed to work with the Rigid bars which are a little different.
