Has anyone successfully retrofitted Off-Road+ modes into non-Rubicon/Mojave models? Can a Tazer do it? What does it take to trick the computers?

Tried to search but unsuccessful due to the generic search term “off road” (that, or I just suck)…

Mods: maybe this belongs in the Programmers, Tuners, Coders subforum?

Off Road + mode is kind of silly. It just puts you in 1st gear, locks the rear, disconnects the swaybar, and turns on the front trail camera. It's an extra button for the sake of having one.

If you don't have a rear locker, swaybar disconnect, or front trail camera, all it would do is put you in 1st gear when you are in low range. If you do have all that equipment from the factory, then you already have an Off Road+ button because you bought the Rubicon.

I had a 2020 JTR for a couple years before lemoned it and Just got back in with a 2023 Sport Max Tow.

I remember really enjoying the adjusted throttle response and shift points running somewhat briskly in 4H on sandy trails. That’s what I’m mainly after.

Thanks for the input, but this is mainly incorrect. Of the items you mentioned, the only thing it does is turn on the front camera (if you have one and if it's enabled via settings). See the manual below:

As I mentioned, I'm really interested in the Engine/Transmission Calibration along with Traction Control adjustments.

In 4L, it applies a de-gain to the throttle, which means more careful application of torque, and more agressive BLD, which is beneficial for us who don't have lockers.

In 4H, it makes the throttle more responsive and holds gears longer (like a sports mode), which is fun! The Traction Control also allows for MORE wheel spin (as I understand it), which is also fun for drifting and other shenanigans.

Id love to figure this out as well.
My information says it requires a different bcm b
That’s a start! Let’s figure this out.

I reached out to Z Automotive (Tazer) to see if they have explored this as a product. Wilk what they say.

In my truck it just seems to do the things I listed, I've noticed no difference in transmission, throttle input, or traction control using Off Road+ vs 1st gear low range, rear locker on, and sway bar disconnected.

Maybe the difference is more pronounced with the gas engine, but it doesn't seem to do any of those mapping things compared to just being in low range - which already changes the maps.

ah I didn’t consider the ecodiesel. So if you go into 4L, then turn on Off Road+, it will automatically disconnect your front sway bar and turn on the rear locker, even if you didn’t specifically touch those controls?

That’s not accurate at all. Offroad plus changes shift points and throttle response to provide better control off road. It does zero things with lockers or sway bar discos.

I can’t imagine it’s not possible. It probably needs a switch and programming. And of course an auto transmission as a prerequisite.

It will not.

Yep, when I put it on for the first time it locked the rear end, disconnected the swaybar, put the trans into 1st gear, and opened the front trail camera. It's a 2021 Ecodiesel Rubicon. I felt zero difference in the shift points or map between 1st gear low and Off Road+.

I have it in my Mojave. Depending on the beach I am running, the shift points become awkward. RPMs run too high and the engine gets hot since I am not running fast enough to cool it (and it is usually hot outside too—upper 80s at worst though). I have to either turn it off or go to "manual" shifting when on my home beach in deeper sand.

Jeep Gladiator Off Road+ Retrofit? 1000002155

Looks like there are some options in JScan, I am at work at the moment but will play with those settings when I get home.

Nice find! I have JScan as well but only did minor things (i.e. tire size).

What model JT do you have? I wonder if we’ll need to add the switch assembly and associated harness prior to enabling it.
