Sounds like you found the side by side crowd, that thinks jeeps are sxs’s you can take to the store. Sorry about that. Yeah. You need one or two people to join. Big groups are terrible imo.
yeah. I dont think the big group thing is my jam. Id prefer maybe 2 or 3...a hand full at the most.

These didnt look too bad. In my mind I am speaking more of where you have the offcamber and on the other side you have a drop off down the side of a mountain. I dont think ill feel as tingly if its relatively flat on both sides where if you do tip over your not rolling down a mountain.
I didn’t watch them. Busy morning trying to get people out the door. But I assumed. Off camber stuff feels awful in the beginning, and probably always will for extreme roll angles.

Me too. I’m done with organized events permanently.

I did winter 4x4 in January, and didn’t start enjoying it until we broke from the group and did our own thing. I love the vendor shows, but would rather wheel with people that undertake that I’m guaranteed to take “Dan Lines”. In the big groups I’m either discouraged from trying tough lines, or rushed from behind by the throttle person. Not very relaxing in my opinion.

Some of those people think if they drive from the front to the back and get their badge to put on side of the jeep that's all its about.

who do you get a badge from? Do you just submit in and say you did it or something?

Jeep Badge of Honor app. You check in at the trail. You need to be close enough for gps. It even works if you don’t have a signal. You just finish the check in later. You can then request a hard badge for free, once per trail. There’s almost 70 in the lower 48 now. Honor system that you actually did the trail. No cheating! Great excuse to see parts of the country that weren’t necessarily on your list.

Here in Michigan, we don't have mountains.

How do you guys get used to the truck tilting and not being afraid of the tought of it tipping or rolling over? I know ive been no where close to that but even the slightest tilt makes it feel like it to me. How do i grow a pair?
Look into taking an off-road driving class/course. I took an off-road driving class once, and part of it was learning how to recover from an off-camber tip. I actually took the vehicle (an older Land Cruiser) past the tipping point, then turned the wheels down hill and hit the gas to recover. It's scary. Unfortunately, there aren't many times where you can actually use this technique to recover from an imminent tip, but it gives you a good sense of what it feels like to get to the tipping point.

Here's the most scared I've ever been in my JKRX (screen shot from an old video). No idea how close I was to actually tipping, but it sure did feel close, especially since it was rocky.

Like this weekend was a huge ride with 300+ jeeps on it for "go topless day". It was an easy just pavement / gravel road ride, but it was a cluster and i lost everyone close to the start and ended up on my own on a totally different route. It was ok though as there was nothing dangerous to get into for this ride. My children and I were able to make the most of it alone and making memories.
Where are you in Tennessee? We moved to Middle TN (Lewisburg area) last year and have been sort of looking for a group that enjoys mostly forest roads and such rather than extreme rock climbing (we used to live in California and have never wanted to try the Rubicon!).

Ok so I am a baby to the offroad stuff, but would like to get more into it other than just a gravel road. The few trails ive been on were newb stuff, but still included enough off camber places in trail that just made me a baby. How do you guys get used to the truck tilting and not being afraid of the tought of it tipping or rolling over? I know ive been no where close to that but even the slightest tilt makes it feel like it to me. How do i grow a pair?
just like that first dent fear
you would get over it till you roll it over
and honestly I've had my buggy over a few times ... it takes a lot to go greasy side up and it usually a slow flop

Edited, since I typed in the values for front to rear (10' distance), not side to side (5' distance)

Yeah, first messed up road we drover out here, a rutted/washed and off camber forest service road not groomed in over a year, on the side of very steep mountain. Thinking, the cost of a flip will be several hundred feet of rolling. 15-20 degrees felt super steep.

It will be a while before I'm comfortable with it, but, the math says that the passenger side being 3' higher or lower than the driver side is 30 degrees; 2' is 22. I'll probably stay closer to 20 degree, since that allows for more driver error, at least on the side of a mountain.
