I took my Gladiator for its first free oil change. That went well I thought and drove it around and pulled into the garage. Noticed a small black puddle under it. I thought it was Oil. Called dealership back and they suggested they will talk internally and call me back. Did not happen. I did check the oil and it was full, no leak around the oil filter. I started the Jeep and backed It out to clean the spot. When I did it basically exploded oil everywhere. Meaning a large puddle under the Jeep and a trail to the driveway and under the jeep in the driveway. pulled into the Garage and checked oil and it is full but cannot figure out where this is coming from. I have contacted the dealer again and left a VM. Needs to be towed now. Any thoughts?

When you say "exploded oil" are we talking about multiple quarts of oil. Or just enough to make a really good mess??

There's a chance its not motor oil. Are you sure its motor oil? Is it black or clear??

Check the obvious like the drain plug and the oil filter cap. If it cannot be remedied by you, I would have it towed in on their dime to get it figured out.

I would think they would be a little quicker to respond to something like that. I learned long ago about getting services done. I don't want the free services, I will do my own as always. Unless forced to go get warranty work, I will do my own routine maintenance

Can you tell if it's fresh oil or used? I had some drips after my service appointment this weekend, but I could tell it was used oil, likely from the filter change.

Any chance it's coming out the driver side frame rail? If you drop the filter when you're changing it it takes days to stop dripping... Ask me how I know...

Excuse the redundancy but, when checking ur oil, do u clean the tip first then reinsert to get an accurate reading?

Most likely spillage from drainage or re-fill....

What color is the oil... If it is black, then, it is left over oil that they spilled all over the truck when they were changing it. If it new yellow fresh oil, then, you could have a real leak.

Also, it could be that they spilled the new oil when they were filling it from the top... That is easy to do, and In that case, you will see fresh yellow oil on your driveway.... Look around your oil filter neck and oil filter.... See if you see indications of spillage.

used oil - nothing leaking around the drain plug or filter but it is black and coming from somewhere. Hopefully when the dealer picks it up they can tell me if it is a seal or front diff.

Fixed today - found out the tech did not place the o-ring on the oil filter causing oil to shoot out. Dealer took it to the shop to clean the underside and verify everything else.

Factory filter comes with the oring installed on the cap. I suspect some how the oring popped out of the groove while tighten it down. It's a good idea to oil both orings before install.
