I am currently on my way to pick up my new Sarge Green Rubicon X. Been on a ship for a few weeks and searched for best deal in the country. 3 plane rides today. I will have a 1500 mile ride home. Any suggestions on break in. I will take it slow for first 300 miles or so. Should I change any fluids on the way?

I don’t recall needing to change fluids…you certainly can, if you wish…

I changed mine at about 900 but as I know it isn't really that important. I am just paranoid. I did not see any metal in the filter or glitter in the pan so likely be ok. But do what makes you feel better. I assume it will be mostly highway miles which is better for wear.

I think if you read the manual, you'll find your answer.

I used the Adaptive Cruise to help with the break-in period. It kept the speed varied, due to the traffic flow, and hit the throttle hard a few times recovering from slow downs. The main thing, from the manual, is to not tow with it for the first 500 miles.

I did the same (traveled 500 miles or so) and manual specifically states to not do the first oil change till it tells you...it actually went to 9k before it did.

Lake Speed the oil geek on YouTube recommended early first oil change. You can check it out and use your own judgment. I changed mine at 5k and every 5k. I recall hearing break in is not as important as years ago but that you should vary speed. I think Mr Bill has a great idea if you have adaptive cruise otherwise you can manually do it.
Happy Jeeping!

I just bought a 2024 Sport S back in July. So far it has 2,800 miles on it with a mix of city traffic and 75-80 highway sprints. I plan on changing the oil at 4,000 miles with full synthetic at my dealer, that will count as my first of two free changes. I’m not sure about lately, but back a while ago I was told by a service manager the oil new vehicles come with are formulated to help break-in. Not quite sure what that means but I’ve read that in Mechanics Illustrated. That said to leave original oil in for long enough for rings to set properly. I know one thing, the oil minder tells me I have 65% oil life left? I’m NOT waiting till 11,000? Miles to change the original oil! As far as your trip home? I would refrain from a steady over 65 mph speed, in the first 100 miles it’s best to travel at different speeds changing all the time with no full throttle runs. Good luck.

As stated above, the manual may give instructions. The key is to vary rpms for the first 500-1000 miles. Then drive the wheels off of it.

Just got home back in Texas from Picking up my new Gladiator. It was a great drive. I started out the trip driving through Yellowstone National Park. Then I did WY only Badge of Honor trial. It was a easy one but a nice view. Then I went down through Central Colorado and did Ophir Pass the other Passes in area were closed due to snow. Then I went to Great Sand Dunes National Park and went over Mederno Pass.

Drive it like you stole it…that’s what a warranty is for! Congrats on the new sled.
