I went to a dealership to discuss ordering a Gladiator. They told me they require $1,500 non refundable to place the order. Is that a normal charge? What are you guys seeing?

Thanks!

I have only ever given a $500 deposit on any car at different dealerships and even different brands over the last 20 years. The deposit amount is by dealerships choice and changes due to your relationship with them and the area you are in. (Aka what are others doing). They always state that they are non refundable but if your vehicle is easy to sell in the configuration you ordered; you could still get the money back.

From what I have seen from others on here 1000 seems to be the avg. Mine is on the lower side.

Hey Mike, I was charged a non-refundable $1000 deposit when I ordered from Mac Haik in Georgetown, TX. You should see what Steven Carrizales can do for you.

I had to put $2K for my order. Refundable only when its sold to another buyer. I didn't like the sound of it but LE concierge appointed this dealership and only this dealership will be abe to help me at the time. Should have known better.

I'm in the SF Bay area... had to put $1,000 down to order my Gladiator. When I changed my mind about color (jumping to the Firecracker Red Clan), my dealership just rolled my deposit from the first order over to a new order for the red one. They are confident that they'll have no problem selling my first order (a black Rubicon JT).

In the Chicagoland area most dealerships require $1000 but I have been asked for as much as $2500. I told them they were getting $1000 and they crossed out the $2500 and took it.

Why would you need to put a deposit down if it’s refundable ? That’s insane .

A deposit is a commitment to buy .
