I will pic up my new Jeep on Wednesday. I’m trying to decide if I should order a Mopar lift or not. I’m sure it’s been answered here already but I can’t find the direct answer. So here’s the question one more time.

Can I run 35” tires without a lift on a Overland diesel without rubbing?
Can I run 37” tires with a Mopar 2” lift on a Overland diesel without rubbing?

I plan to just keep the stock 18” wheels.
I tow light weight stuff now but may buy a bigger bumper pull camper in the future. I figure I can regear or go back to a smaller tire then if I need to

From my reading, you need 2” of lift to run 35s for your trim.

Issue with the stock wheels is they are 7.5" wide. Most those 35" and up will need new rims. 33-34" was the largest I could find for that rim.

Duratrac 275/70r18 for example apx 33.25"

I've done a decent amount of research into this, as I want to do the Mopar 2" lift with 35s.

Some say you can do it on stock wheels, some say you can't. Depends on who you ask. I think I'm going to go with 315s as it gives me Load Range C tires and is nearly 35", and typically has a smaller recommended width than 35x12.5 (but still not within spec for our 7.5" wheels).

Local tire installation place said it should be no problem, may have to under inflate depending on the wear. I don't really plan to go offroading, just wanted it for the looks.

Thanks for the reply’s. I hadn’t considered that the stock rims would be to narrow for 35’s. Maybe I’ll just leave it stock until my check book recovers enough to buy a lift, tires and rims. I do plan to toss a topper on it quickly. Maybe a topper and a Mopar lift now and tires and rims when the wife is distracted.

Regarding wheel width, if you go to any online tire shop, the tire specs will typically show the wheel width recommendation for each tire. I am pleasantly surprised how many 315s and 35s show a minimum width of 7.5".

I’m on duratracs, 35x12.5 on stock rims. 4,000 miles and they have even wear.
I run them 34 cold. If I’m going to tow or haul a full load, I’ll air them up.

You are not going to find a 35 or 37 in 18" that you can "legally" mount to your OEM wheels.

Notice the parentheses, you can look for a Mom & Pop tire shop with no corporate insurance BS to worry about and get it done.

With that said, if you drop to a 17" wheel, which there are Rubicon take offs on this Board, it opens the door up for tire choices. You can even get a 35/10.5 that goes on the 17".

What about 285/75r18?
These are about 35" in diameter and 11.2" wide so they will work on the stock 18x7.5" wheel.

There is a thread I saw at one point (in the wheel and tire section, maybe?) that has a bunch of Overland owners on that size tire.

A quick search of an online tire company shows 13 tires in that size...

I grabbed this pic from one of the forum member's posts with this wheel and tire combo.

It seems that most, if not all, 295/70r18s are "legal" on a 7.5" wide wheel, too.
That same online tire store shows 25 in that size.
Looks to be just over 34" in diameter...

Hope this helps - Steve

I missed the 18” rim qualifier in Kevman’s post. I’ll poke around fir 18” rim versions.

I stand corrected. I couldn’t find any for 18” rims.

My apologies Kev.
