EcoDiesel with 9880 miles. I have gotten the P0118 code (Engine Coolant Temp sensor circuit high) 2 or 3 times in the last 5000 miles, randomly. Rad fan goes to 100% with check engine light. I clear the code and I'm fine for another few months. Recently, the code came back and would continue to return after clearing it. I noticed on my banks gauge that the ECT was all over the place. -40, to 150 to 205 to 170, etc.. Then came "Service electronic throttle control" and limp mode capped out at 40mph... called dealer and they were a week out for an opening in service. With that, I bough the Mopar ECT sensor for $49 on RockAuto swapped it out.
For the next few warm up cycles I noticed the temp would still fluctuate but only within 10-15 degrees of the oil temp. My though is either ECM is screwed or some air pockets in the coolant lines since I swapped the sensor. All good now it seems...
Figured I would share.
