I ran into the same issues I think. Here is a dash pic. Is this what you had? I can get it to happen reliably now. And so can the service manager. I forwarded them the link. Hopefully he can get it fixed.

I see the A - Avengers looking symbol indicating that is a Autostop/start (should be Ass lol but it’s ESS) issue. If you go through your menus you should get a warning saying
“Stop/Start system unavailable service stop/start system”
If you have a manual transmission and you’ve changed tire size or re geared you’ll need to do the top gear re- learn. If you have or can borrow a code reader and get code P08A6 - it indicates the need for relearn. Dealers don’t seem to know about this.

If you have an auto and are seeing this( or if it manual transmission and the issue is not the relearn) it can be a few things such as a loose battery cable, bad ground, and/or failing main and/or secondary battery, or a bad connection to the hood switch/plunger. This will all throw an ESS light. Finally it could be a fuse or bad ESS.

I loathe taking things to the dealer and I systematically troubleshoot and narrow things down to eliminate issues if I can and properly diagnose vs just throwing parts at the problem. Hopefully you or your dealer can diagnose a d correct your issue. Let us know. Good luck!

Stock tires for now and mt. It stopped indicating what gear it’s in and the trail and backup cam also stopped working. I was thinking it stemmed from not knowing what gear it’s in. But the dealership replaced that sensor and it’s still doing it. Only happens in 4lo after a few miles of driving. I’ll try the gouge out when I get the Jeep back.

Ok. If they replaced the sensor, they’ll probably need to do the re learn. Good luck! Here is the procedure link. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10176542-9999.pdf

Currently experiencing this for the past 6 months. Only seems to occur when I shift to 6th gear although very rare. I have calibrated tires from winter (35) to summer (37) a few times with the tazer mini and it still occurs. Dealership points to the tire size (with tazer unmarried when I bring it in). I’ll try updating tazer to latest version to see if it clears and then attempt the battery method. .

The battery deal is the only thing that worked for me..

After that is fixed, and you do the 6th gear drive, do a pedal relearn. It made a huge difference

Just wanted to add a +1 to the previous post. Just had my Gladiator with the 6-speed MT regeared. I have a Tazer and the process outlined by Tazer (to do the full reboot, turn the Jeep on then off, then drive between 40-60MPH in 6th gear, then two sleep cycles) did not stop the ESS error. Oddly enough back when I changed my tire size, this process worked - but now with the regear, it did not work.

However the above directions for disconnecting the battery worked. Thanks!
