Very common problem with the JL's and JT's. 2018, through current year. I don't believe that the factory has a absolute fix for it. Some have been repaired more that once, and yet it continues. Another issue is, many of the Dealers are refusing to take care of it under warranty. Most of them don't have a Body/Paint shop.

Aluminum hoods don't rust. They oxidize.
Paint bubbles can happen on almost any painted steel or aluminum surface, many many reasons, so seeing a paint bubble can be a lot of things. I've had them on my classics if a filler or primer didn't bond or there was an interaction with the paint solvents.
On these, it's typically on the non-steel parts and so far no one has pointed to "THE" solution. You take it in and talk to the dealer.
It's really almost an industry-wide issue on aluminum hoods, seen just like this on GM and Ford trucks, Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers, and so on.
You won't see rust because it's not steel.
If under the bubble there is a white substance or the surface looks white, it's aluminum oxide. If there's no such white, it's possibly a bonding issue, or interaction of materials in some way.
A rough area like that and not a simple "bubble" that's smoother points to a surface issue below the paint.
A smooth bubble is sometimes a bond issue in a spot, or a solvent or material interaction. Paint will "bubble" when the bond is broken or something below pushes it up.
Interesting to me is that on Ford, GM or Jeep, the issues are almost always on or near the edges of the hood. Why not up on the flats? Why not 5" away from the edge? Is it something about the pressing process when the hood is formed around and bonded to the skeleton of the hood?
A reaction of the skin to the frame of the hood? Inadequate paint sealing up under that edge?
I just discovered similar "corrosion" on my hood edge on the passenger side. I'm going to take it into the dealership to document it, but it does not worry me much. If they don't fix it, I'll just monitor it. If it looks like it is growing, I may sand it down and re-paint myself before it goes too far.

My JL has all kinds of oxidation on the hinges. It is well out of warranty, so I'm going to have my high school body shop take care of it. It takes them some time, but they only charge for materials. No labor. And they do good work.

Just noticed these two ares on my hood. And the weather stripping on the windshield is deteriorating.
Guess I should take it in?

That weather striping looks nasty. Guess I should go check mine. I park on the street in the mountains, lots of snow, etc.

AND there's less atmosphere to filter out the UV rays. Cars from the mountains generally have no rubber or plastic parts left after sitting a couple of decades (I bought one of those high elevation cars years ago - touch the flexible parts and they crumbled)

Yeah, that strip does look nasty. First I've seen one like that.

Can you tell me how you got this covered. I have a red 2020 with the exact same issues. Entire body is bubbling and white spots at tailgate. Jeep dealership is saying it’s a paint defect and not corrosion and they won’t do anything for me since my paint warranty was only 3 years.

I have these appearing all over my vehicle. Your photo is the only one I have ever found that looks exactly like what I have. Would you let me know if you have found a solution or if this is covered under warranty?
Did you find out if Jeep corrosion covers this?

Same issue for me. Little bubbles all over the truck. Still under 5 year window so will be heading to dealer at end of Febafter a couple of planned trips. Can’t risk losing truck this month if dealer is going to repair things
Did you find out if corrosion covers this? I’m being rejected by dealerships saying I’m outside of paint warranty and corrosion doesn’t cover it

I leveraged a Corrosion TSB and they covered clearcoat bubbles on hinges and aluminum panels (Hood and all the doors) so they got a majority of the issues. The bed and tailgate weren’t covered, but those areas have more wear and tear from my adventures so they need a bigger repair anyways and I left it at that.

I don’t have the TSB number, but you can google Jeep Corrosion TSB and you should find what you need for a fight.

@JeepCares why are so many red Gladiators having this paint issue? And why are we having trouble with getting this handled under the corrosion warranty? I’m assuming that the panels were properly prepped before painting which means the paint bond issues causing these bumps is from corrosion since being painted. This seems to be an issue of corrosion as the underlying problem to the paint issues so many of use are having. My dealership won’t even submit this issue for me because they said only doors and hoods are covered and only if there is cracking.
I am 1 year beyond my paint and 1 year left of my corrosion warranty.

JeepCares does not ever get into the weeds or drill down on problems. They feign concern and not much else.
