Picture Request - Oil Filter Housing

I would find it hard to believe the aluminum housing would crack, before the plastic filter cover would!

Any chance someone has a picture of their oil filter housing that could be shared, specifically the area shown in the pic below? I did my first oil change today, used a torque wrench, but noticed this - it doesn’t appear to be a full on crack, so I’m curious if this is normal as part of the housing or?

In all my years I have never seen a torqued oil filter back off

I never torque mine. I just turn it until it stops at the flange. Anything with a plastic cap or housing I treat the same way. A tee handle driver is a good idea too. An unnecessary side load would be my guess is the cause for the caps and housings to fail. It's really not a design flaw, it's user error. Using a long extension on the socket to hold the load centered is best.

This is my method as well. I’ll use the 1/2” drive until I get some resistance then take off the wrench and just tighten with the extension by hand. It’s tight but not Impact break everything tight.
