(Please help) How the **** does this plastic cover go back on??!

They forgot to include that part in the 2023 part diagrams. It is on the vehicle, not in the parts diagrams.

The plastic cover is the splash shield, the white module on the back of the vapor canister box is the ESIM detector.
Splash shield comes off easily if you play with your Jeep at all. Module can become dirty/fouled without it as I just recently replaced mine due to an EVAP leak I was chasing, don't ask me how the splash shield goes back on, mine's still on the workbench...

Honestly not sure... Mine caused an EVAP leak code and the gas cap light to come on, but I didn't notice any problems filling the tank during that time.

Just grasping at straws for a “doesn’t matter” problem I’ve had since 2022. It never gets to all the way full on the gauge.

I see that the cover is not called for on a 2020-21. The detector and the canister are also different part numbers, the last letter. I wouldn't sweat it too much if you can get it on.

There is a TSB for that. The fix is to replace the fuel pump module and the fuel tank.

Honestly I have no idea what that plastic cover is for, but maybe try and hit it hard, not too hard where you'll crack the plastic, but hard enough to snap it back in? Or use a thin flat-head screwdriver to get the teeth back in and tap it in.

Maybe. They fixed mine under warranty in ‘23. Works good now,too!

Filmed a short video of the cover, it only fits on one way. As far as I can tell, 90% of these “teeth” have nothing to bite into, and only two small plastic prongs loosely clamp onto a plastic tab on the bottom. But as you can see it still is incredibly wobbly, in the video I’m barely putting any grip on the cover. I’m surprised this hadn’t fallen off sooner driving on the trails. What a weird design.

I was installed the AEV 2.5 lift kit on my Gladiator yesterday, and when removing the passenger rear spring it hit a plastic cover which popped out of place and fell on the ground. Heres the problem, I cant get the bloody thing back on. Im 90% sure where it goes, but I cant get it to snap back into place, the teeth are not damaged, so I know it will go back on if I only knew how to. I was hoping if anyone knew how this part goes back on or can offer any help. I've attached pictures of the plastic cover and what i think it covers. Also, if anyone can take a picture of this cover installed on their truck it would help me greatly.
