I went with 315/70/17 BFG KO2's on my Overland and love them.

I'm confused about gear ratio's. Is this something that can be calibrated using the Tazer, or is this a mechanical component that has to be changed? I plan on adjusting by tires size for speedo calibration, but i know there is an option for gear ratios with the Tazer as well. My suggested gear ratio with the 315's is 3.88. Can I change my overland to that with the tazer??
No. Gears are mechanical and must be physically changed. Programmers are unable to do that.
However, changing the tire size to calibrate the speedo will help a lot with the shift points of the transmission. That is if you have an auto of course.

Gear ratio is a physical set of gears meshing together. It's around $1200 to have both differential gear sets changed. You MUST reset the tire size with a device like the Tazer in order to make the Jeep drive well and show/know the speed. You CAN also physically re-gear to regain some of the lost torque. Probably not needed for such a tiny change.

What is your gear ratio now? It's on your build sheet. All of the Rubicons are 4.10 gears, for example.

285 70 17 BFG KO2 3.73 gears. Black Rhino Wheels and 3/4" front level. I think I will stay with this setup for awhile.
Did you keep the stock tire setting or change? I have the same jeep with same tire size and trying to find the sweet spot setting for the shift points

They look amazing but stick out quite a bit which is a no no in NH. Big backspacing?

yeah the Black Rhino wheels are 4.56 backspace . The white wheels from Quadratec were not in stock but those had more backspace. As I understand , less backspace will push the tires out. So you would want something with more backspace , closer to OEM rims which are 6.25 backspace.
There are probably other white wheel options with something closer to your liking.

I love my 35s way more than the 33s I had. I have 4.56 gears on order. It's not horrible on flat land but any hills or weight and it sucks.

That size in Falken Wildpeaks Is what I have on my 80AE. On the tire, they are labeled as 34x11.5. Oddly enough, they are taller mounted than the 315/70R17 on my daughters JKU.

As for the gearing issue, the 8 speed auto picks up a lot of the slack when it comes to gearing.
For a comparison, the wife’s 20 Willys JLU came factory with 255/75R17 and 3.45 gears. It drives perfectly.
My JT was equipped with 255/70R18 and the 3.73 gear. Swapping to the 295/70R18 changed my effective gear ratio to 3.49, which is still a bigger gear than hers has from the factory. After recalibration with Jscan, I have zero drivability issues. I still see 8th gear on the highway.

I have the same color JT and was wondering what it would look like on bigger tires. Good looking rig.

Man, Im really thinking about 315/70 now..?? Kenda Klever i noticed weighs only 56lbs. Im just completely confused and torn at this point!!?
Im actually looking at that tire for 33 x12.5 17r the tire is lighter and its a hybrid of mud/at and looks good to.
