I’ve got some oil residue, without active dripping, close to the point where the transmission meets the transfer case, but it appears from the pictures that it’s likely coming from the rear of the transmission pan. Have others seen this? Just looking for people who have experience in this area. I’ll likely fix it myself. There are no codes or symptoms. All is working normally. And the oil isn’t coming from above. No obvious color or smell from a finger wipe of the area. Thanks in advance.

I initially thought mine would either be transfer case seal or transmission seal facing transfer case, but from the first pictures angle it seems to be coming from the pan.

Probably needs new pan gasket, except it looks like your missing a pan bolt?

That was my initial thought as well. I don’t think there is a bolt missing for the tranny pan, but I saw the same illusion the first time I looked at my own pictures as well. You haven’t done that project, have you?

Looks like it's been leaking for quite a while. I'm going to bet on the t-case seal leaking.

Look into the weep hole and see what you see. That's how I identified mine being the t-case. Likely the dealer will replace the pan gasket, then replace the pan, then replace the t-case seal (which requires disassembly of the entire t-case by the way.

Before I let anyone touch mine I cleaned the area super well with brake clean, hosed it all off and let it dry then inspected after 100 miles to see leak source before everything else started getting wet.

If fluid first starts to build up on this ridge, it's most likely the t-case. That's my .02 anyway, and I went through this for months before the dealer decided to tear everything apart.

I haven’t replaced mine but I did have to retorque the bolts for a similar issue

Is that small gap to the left of your finger the weep hole?

Yessir. I was able to see fluid coming out of it. Even with that though my dealer ordered the transmission output shaft seal as well as a 'just in case' - if either the trans output or transfer input seals are leaking they will come out of the same hole.

Perfect. Thanks. I’ll clean it up and check it in a week.

I remember a time when I would have thought that to be shocking. Now it's just kind of expected.
:(
It's a pretty poor design. Disassemble the entire transfer and trans to replace a seal. Go figure.....

Not to mention the all too common poor quality work these days. Mine was torn apart twice - the 'top' tech put it back together wrong the first time and 4wd didn't work. Then crossmember bolts got put back in backwards - and without washers, and the fuel line plastic protector went missing too. What a day to be alive.

At least so far it is not leaking again yet *crosses fingers....

I was hoping I was going to just get a new transfer case so it was an easy in/out swap like a lot of others did. For some reason they wanted to open mine up.

Dumb. I think I’ll do it myself. Technically I’ve got 1400 miles left on my drivetrain, but I hate dealers and don’t trust them to not make it worse.

I bought my 2021 Gladiator Willys as a certified used with less than 16k miles on it a few weeks ago. After parking on the drive way yesterday, I pulled it back into the garage and noticed a couple spots on the driveway. I peeked under to discover this leak from what looks like the pan gasket. Nothing seems to be coming down from above the pan and the color looks to be that of the green transmission fluid. Nothing looks like it is coming from the weep hole between the trans and transfer case as I have read others have issue with. Anyone have a dealer fix and how long did it take?

It may be as simple as the bolts were not tightened to spec at the factory . Take it back have em fix it.
