  1. ‘94 Grand Cherokee - nothing special, but it was my first Jeep and a huge upgrade from the champagne colored Saturn SC2 with a a leaky sunroof and pop up headlights and the royal blue Pontiac Sunbird with matching blue upholstery
  2. ‘05 TJ - I bought it in the fall of ‘06 with 8000 miles on it. It was completely stock until I lifted it, added some bumpers and armor, and stuck 33s on it.
  3. ‘11 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie - great truck, but not a Jeep, which was why I traded it in about 18 months after I bought it
  4. ‘07 JKU Sahara - It came with 35s, Pintlers, and a 2.5-3” Teraflex lift (never measured). Nice Jeep but had some mechanical and electrical issues. Sold it privately to make room for the next one.
  5. ‘15 JKU Hard Rock Rubicon - Tank green. My first new vehicle. It was a factory order exactly how I wanted it. I built it, stuck 35s on it, and swore I’d never sell it. Until...
  6. ‘20 JT Overland - Gobi, 37s, slowly being built the way I want it
  7. I haven’t bought this one yet. If I had to guess, I’d say maybe a diesel Rubicon JT sometime in the next 3-5 years.

What makes you switch from one to the next? I love my current vehicle so much I don't have the heart to ever part with it. I've had to make a plan for where and how to store it when I pull the trigger on a JT. Now if I had infinite space..... I would have a real problem.

It's nothing too fancy for nowadays, just clean with a 3" lift and 33.5" Toyos.

1.) 1963 Pontiac Catalina, 389 Tri-power, Slim Jim transmission. Was my first car, paid $250 for it, another $500 bringing it back to life. Rolling tank, could fit 5 people in back seat. Double size mattress laid flat in trunk. No seat belts.

2.) 1978 Kawasaki Z1R 1000

Unfortunately, I have some sort of AD&D. I get bored after a few years.. Happens with trucks, boats, etc. There are 2 trucks I never got bored with but had extraordinary circumstances that forced me to sell.
The K5, I was offered a shit ton of money to tell. Dumbest decision of my life
My 2010 JKUR, I was at the dealer getting an oil change and talking to my salesman when the service manager threw out some crazy number to buy on the spot. I did it. Wasn't so disappointed in that sale. Other then that, the rest of the trucks I just go bored with after building them up
I know, I have issues :)
Now this gladiator, its gonna be with me for a while!!!

From the OPs post looks like they meant 4x4s BUT!

Here's my Alfa Romeo Montreal that I owned when I was stationed in Bamberg, Federal Republic of Germany, before the wall fell.

Whatever you want...I can supervise!
1. 83 CJ-8 w/straight six engine. Loved it! Great for a young bachelor. Ask the ladies I dated. But, don't tell my wife.
2. Ford F-150 Lightening...SVT...again, loved it...but, never took it off-road (it would have been crap) ...great rice rocket burner on straights.
3-5...jeeps of various years/models...never held a candle to the 83 CJ-8... re. my style, nor attitude. Traded it in for a new jeep...one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Now, leave me alone, gonna cry in my bourbon

Split window Volkswagen given to me before I could drive.

Drove around our back yard until my brother bought it.

He built an all tubular frame and butchered the not yet collectable.
Put a bus transaxle in it and cut the gears.

Pat Rutledge machined Porsche jugs on the VW case making it legal for the Baja 500 back in 1971?
Only 500 miles back then.
Bushmaster body’s sponsored it.
Dane should have won but came in 3rd or fourth in his class because he was a piss poor driver.

It was outlawed the next year & dad bought it back and gave it to me to learn how to drive.

Turning brakes & all.
Full blast into a dirt bank to compress the suspension
then let out the clutch to kangaroo off the big berm.

Texas DPS finally caught me after several attempts
standing still popping off fireworks in a field and gave me a good chewing out for being on road.
I remember having salt in my eyes.🥲

I stayed on the dirt after that.

Like an idiot I traded it for a Honda motorcycle including it’s observation high top custom trailer.

Funny thing is I took my current wife for a ride in it all those years ago as a kid at LBJ lake.

It took pleading to her dad I would be careful in order to let her go. She is sitting next to me right now.

At least I got to keep her!

Wished I had pics

Roughly in order of aquisition, leaving out a few vehicles not worthy of mentioning in a list of favs:
  1. Red 65 Mustang 289 Coupe, 3spd manual: Nothing too special, except that it was mine, and my first car (got it in 87 or 88). Started a bit of an obsession with Mustangs that lingers today. Added a holley 4bbl carb, dual exhaust, and headers. Would run 80mph in 2nd gear, but then there were only 3!
  2. Silver 2000 Mustang GT 5spd Manual: Leaving out well over a decade of mediocre cars and motorcycles, this was the first return to any kind of performance driving in over a decade.
  3. Silver 2008 Triumph Thruxton 900. Beautiful Cafe racer, retro bike with Epco exhausts and rejetted carbs
  4. Kona Blue 2012 Mustang GT 6spd: Probably my favorite Mustang. Seemed like exactly what a Mustang should be, fast, fairly basic, and affordable. Made great noises and Decent looking. Still had the live rear axle.
  5. Burgundy/Tan 351W 96 Ford Bronco: First, real 4X4, 3rd Truck. Started off-roading for the first time. Loved it. Traded in my Triumph and an old Ford Explorer on this.
  6. Magnetic 2015 Mustang GT 6spd Manual: Slight let down here as the it didn't feel as fast as the 2012 despite having 20 extra horses. But, handling, creature comforts, and material quality were big improvements.
  7. Black Dodge Charger Daytona 392: First foray into FCA. Loved this car. Big, fast, and loud. Best engine sound ever. Came with hellcat brakes that were crazy expensive to replace. Traded in for the Gladiator.

I miss how much fun this one was to drive. That 2.7 EB is a beast.
