That smells like a lawsuit in the works
Oh man I wish. This was almost 10 years ago, I had just got out of the Marines and we just blew all our cash on down payment and closing costs. We did depositions, hired a lawyer, filled out statements, gathered witnesses, police reports blah blah blah... ran out of what little money we had and still got cancelled. Fuck Security First Ins.

Sorry for the hijack. Geico has been nothing less than incredible for many years FYI. For both auto and my motorcycle addiction

@FLGladiator Been with progressive in two states for over 7 years. Every renewal, i usually re-quote it with the same coverage and its always very close to what i was paying the prior term. This time though they gave me an embarrassing 6mth renewal. So much so im going to pull my house with them too, they can get F'ed.

Went to farm bureau, and the same rate progressive gave me for 6mths for all vehicles, is what im now paying for 12mths, actually less by $300. They saved me almost 3600$ annually. Same exact coverage.

Farm bureau underwrites their own policies, large network, and being a member helps local farmers/gives you discounts to certain things like travel, hotels, john deere etc. Here's the Florida arm: https://floridafarmbureau.com/

A lot of people use them by me, and I had tried to switch prior but progressive kept the rate ok, so i never bothered. Until now.

That's the way man. Glad i can help
At the end of the call, the agent said wait it's a Jeep right. He asked if I had any extras on it that it would only be a few bucks more to add accessories. So I added Fuel wheels for an additional $18.00 for 6 months. Super happy, still can't believe I saved roughly 50%.

Anyone else in Florida get a renewal at double the price? If so what was the alternative insurance companies? I would hate to renew at that increase. No accidents, no tickets, wife is excluded. So a wild guess would be the massive rise in crime and accidents in my area or progressive is just being ridiculous.
If you don't mind sharing, what are you paying ? What has it increased to ?

I've been with Farm Bureau for 8 years with my house and boats and 4 years with my vehicles.

My auto rate went up 14% just recently. I'm thinking about shopping around. Not sure I can do much better, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check.

yea suppose they aren’t impervious to increases, the last year or two has seen a lot more claims, that’s what progressive used anyway to justify. My farm bureau agent did get me in before July 1st tho where he said in July it would have been a few hundred more total because in VA there’s been an uninsured/underinsured motorist change in legislation that increases insurance company exposure, but other than that, gotta shop around, insurance is like underwear, change often. Try Heidi or farmers. Farmers was the next cheapest for me under farm bureau when I requoted this time around.

i prefer the 12mth premium anyway, one less hassle twice a year. Generally better pricing.

From 600 to 1100 6mos. roughly.
Just for reference, I am in my 50's , live in the suburbs. No accidents/tickets. Clean driving record. My renewal went up $150. I have three vehicles on my policy, wife/daughter and myself. We are each rated on our own vehicles. I am paying right at $900 yr for the Jeep.

Yeah USAA upped my homeowners insurance a $100 this year.

I called them a few weeks back to see about having them pay to have a few dead trees cut down (being proactive). They told me to pound sand. I said that's fuckin dumb w/o saying it.

So instead of paying $800 for tree removal I asked them if the preferred paying $8000 to replace my fence if the one tree falls......I was told they deal with it at that time......what a bunch of donkeys. And if they other 2 trees fall its a new roof at a minimum..........so $30-40k ......ok, makes sense
I have never seen homeowners insurance cover tree removal proactively. Generally it falls under "maintenance" in the policy for the homeowner to cover and keep up with tree and other property vegetation upkeep.

With what company? Surely it has to do with the grouping of all policies. I was pretty happy with Progressive until this renewal.
