Someone fly me out to New Jersey so that I can show teneck83 how to use his heater.

I would fly myself out but right now I cant afford a plane ticket and beer.

Thanks Troy. Could the in service also demonstrate how to select “auto” and windshield defrost at the same time? If yes, I’ll buy your ticket. Private message me which airport is closest

Not steering customers away. How about this thought. You want a gladiator, uneducated you purchase the one you can afford. You get home to realize the HVAC isn’t working and it is a problem proving to be common

Same scenario, you are educated of the problem. 3 of the 4 gladiators on the lot have HVAC issues. Would you purchase the one that doesn’t have the problem ?
I can afford any of them. I didn't buy off the lot, ordered as no dealer had any of the color I wanted fully loaded.

Common problem - please define. Put up a poll and see how many have the problem, what trim level and which screen.
Does the base setup have the problem? Do at least one or two with the small screen have the same issue?
And are the issues all the same, or are there multiple issues (as has been found with other issues - similar descriptions, but different root causes)
Is it common? Of the members here, how many have HVAC issues that are actual functionality of the HVAC system issues?
But back to number 1 - if later I found it to be a known issue that impacted a lot of people - I'd work gathering all the information I could and do what I have done in the past - take it up the chain until I got satisfaction. In one case years ago I got a regional rep involved and a service manager lost his job - was later seen working at the parts counter of a competing dealership.

As for the latter part - I buy based on equipment I want or need. I would not know which of them had a problem or not as it's not apparent immediately, at least not in all cases it seems. If any of them was equipped as I wanted it, that's what I'd buy. If there was an issue that was known about THAT vehicle at THAT time, I'd have them put it in writing that it would be resolved. I'd have an out.

The HVAC issue you seem to refer to won't be apparent with test drives so it would most likely be unknown until later.
Even the uneven temp in mine wasn't known or realized until much later. It may not actually be a "problem", more of an annoyance in my case, still investigating. Quirks so far.

I am not at all your typical buyer, never have been. I think very differently.

You can't, on any vehicle I've owned including Chevy. Choose defrost and you lose auto. I lived with that for 9 years with my Chevy, expected it with the Jeep. It's not a Jeep thing.

AUTO? Im bringing my permeant marker for that button. You get cold/hot and fan speed like a normal person.

Exactly why I worded the statement as such. The “fix” is to put it on “auto” for ambient temperature control.

Correct. A normal person in manual mode expects 64 degrees when selected. Not 120 degrees that fires out of the vents.

Man, that's too normal an expectation.

But seriously, since I've not tried that on mine (but will now after all this) - does it KEEP doing that or does it get the temp up to 64 and then back down? Or does it get to 64 and KEEP kicking out 120 degree air?

My Chevy would start out with fan on lowest and air hardly coming out at all until it warmed up part way, then it would gradually ramp up the fan and heat coming out was hot until the cabin temp reached the temp I set and then it backed the air temp down that came out of the outlets and slowed the fan.
In other words, it worked hard to get up to the temp I chose, then cooled down the air to keep it there.
It assumed when I wanted 68 I wanted it to ber 68 fast, so it pumped hot air until it reached that, then maintained it nicely.

So if I chose 68 the air temp would be waaay over that until it reached 68, then the air coming out cooled down.
It wasn't like the home heat pump or my mini-split system in my shop where the air isn't actually all that warm coming out, that truck worked to get up to my chosen temp and then backed down. So I might get 90 degree air coming out until it reached 68 in there.

Maybe someone should fly you to get some reading lessons. And maybe you should lay off the beer. Clearly the guy knows how operate basic HVAC controls. Please take the time to read before making such ridiculous attempts at being funny.

kindly start your truck. It’s only appropriate to let it warm up so the heat does in fact blow hot.

go to the “hi” setting. Leave it there for a few minutes. Once it’s really hot and you are very uncomfortable, select any temperature lower than “hi”. One that you think would be comfortable. However, do not bring it all the way to “Lo”

If at all, how many minutes does it take to get what you believe is the desired temperature you selected?

Can we all agree that on auto mode, the Truck should change the temperature and Blower speed to Whatever it needs to to get the set temperature.

On manual mode, it should only blow the temperature set and only the blower speed that is selected.

In my case, in manual mode, I can have the temp set anywhere between high and 61 and it blows max heat. It only Starts to blow cool if I set at 60, it does not blow cold until I set at max cold temperature.
