Exactly with #1. This is what the owners manual suggests. This is How my service manager said it should work.

As for #2, it appears that’s how many of the Jeeps work, but, theres no solid evidence in writing, by email or from a dealer to suggest this is correct. This is my main point. My dealer says one thing (#1) and jeepcares says whatever the dealer says is right. All I am asking for is some references or documentation to bring to my dealer to say he’s wrong. I can’t bring this forum to him and say “hey all these random forum guys say you don’t know what your talking about”.
Please post direct manual text that supports number 1.

Here is the text for support of number 2:
Paragraph: Manual operation override.

How many people with this issue have dual climate controls?
'
I wonder if this is an issue for those in the base sport or sport S without the 7" Uconnect that has dual climate

Sorry but this blip from the owners manual has been posted on the thread already and doesn’t say anything specific, nor support your explanation of how you think manual mode/override works.

Still waiting for specific text from you that sheds doubt. This vehicle works exactly like the 3 Audi's that I have owned with ATC in both auto and manual, the Lexus, the Volvo, and the Mercedes. All with ATC and all behaved the same as this JT.

Good luck

Jeep has been using Mercedes technology for several years - even the FOBs were identical save for the chrome around the Mercedes fob. The suspension on the GC is Mercedes technology.

I have some good news. I definitely had the HVAC issue people are talking about and I am 98% sure it is gone. As I posted in a different post I’m have a vibration that seems to be caused by bad tires. I had the truck in the dealer last week and picked it up Saturday morning. I didn’t tell them about the HVAC issue ( I didn’t want them pulling apart my dash it play with it) I only had it in for the vibration issue. Maybe the gladiator got an auto update or they just upgraded some software as part of some standard practice. All I know is it has worked well the last couple days. I realized yesterday I was a lot more comfortable on a 30 minute drive and realized the heat didn’t turn Cold like it normally does. I played with it on my 40 minutes drive to and from work today and it was fine. I haven’t taken an actually temperature reading of the vents yet but I believe now when I set the heat to 68 and its 30 outside its blowing hot air approximately 90 until the cabin reaches 68 then it stars blowing 68 degree air. Previously it would switch to 58-60. I can’t check the AC flip side of this because it freezing in NJ today but I’m hopeful that is fixed as well.
If you have this issue you might want to bring the truck to a dealer and see if you get lucky. I’m back in on Friday morning. I will see if they can tell me exactly what has been updated in terms of software but I doubt they can. When I picked it up the service paperwork didn’t say anything about a software update or recall or anything like that.
Does anyone know if there is any kind of over the air update or how updates work at the dealer. -Chris

If accurate (and I've NO reason to think it isn't), this is an excellent summary. It is NOT how I'd personally like to see the MANUAL HVAC system operate, but that's ok with me as long as AUTO works properly. There's some disagreement on that too, it seems. But it also seems as though some here have a system that won't moderate even after reaching set temp in MANUAL mode. Between different expectations, terminologies, probable system discrepancies and clashing personalities, this issue has been confusing the hell out of me. As a person in the market for a JT, I'm keeping an open mind about it and have been reading this one with interest.

For me, a MANUAL system operating in this manner is too close to what the AUTO is supposed to do, but that's me. Test drives only reveal so much. HVAC in different circumstances/settings, towing tests, long sit seat comfort, rain/water leaks and such simply can't all be addressed in a test drive. I'm glad I can learn about these things here.

That is the intent of this thread. To educate future buyers and make a knowledgeable decision

WARNING BUYERS! THIS 2020 VEHICLE DOESN'T OPERATE LIKE A CAR FROM THE 1900'S.

System logic has changed. You can still work it exactly how you want to. Put it on HI and control the fan speed and placement if its really that much of an issue. I mean Its there's like 4 things to control. It takes like 10 min to figure it out.

I'm thinking I should start a thread on how I don't understand that the over head light "are" the on/off switch instead of having a separate button because I feeeeeeel like that's how it should be. And then spend 2 months generally not understanding the concept no matter how many times or ways its explained to me. And then when some one remotely agrees with me I'll post patting myself of the back about how important my thread is.

The manual HVAC mode is no different than the auto transmission's manual mode. Does it give you more control of your gearing? Yea. But does it turn it into a manual trans? No. I keep thinking this tread is dead and then like an annoying zombie it pops back up to the front page.

At this point, if your HVAC system doesn't get to the temperature you want, its a great chance its user error.

There's too much "well that's not how I want it" or "that's now how I'd expect it" or "that's not how my Honda works".
And to buy or not buy .............. based on the heater which works in reality, but may not how a person prefers, well, there's bigger fish to fry. IF there's really an issue with it not working as Jeep designed it, then get it fixed.
It's been well defined and described, including how YES THE AC COMPRESSOR DOES, SHOULD, WILL, OPERATE AND NO, the AC light will NOT come on if in DEFROST MODE THIS IS NORMAL, stop treating it as a defect as it is not.
