First red flag to me is their email address, hotmail is not what I want to see when buying something.
And the language on that site reads like aliexpress. It's clearly a US-based front for a Chinese importer.

Kind of a nuclear option, but you could always send it back at your expense and then reverse/dispute the charge on the credit card if you paid that way.

It costs a lot to ship something that big back to China. I prefer to give $ to companies based in the US even with the understanding that some of their products are made overseas. That’s just a reality, but there are great US Jeep products made in the US as well. 813 comes to mind.
So very true!!

I would not spend too much mental capital helping the OP out as she only joined to have us run interference with a vendor as is quite common to never be seen again once it runs its course.

Hooke seems to have a 30 day "any reason" return policy with buyer paying shipping and 5% restock fee.

I have a feeling there is half a story here being told and she is either not wanting to pay the shipping and restock fee or is outside the window and that really would not be the fault of Hooke Road.

I recently went through something similar with another company. I kept hounding them until they agreed to give me a refund. It’s ridiculous that theyll take Amazon refunds but not refund direct purchases(which help them out because they dont have to pay any third party commissions). These idiot companies are just giving Amazon more power in the grand scheme of things, and they dont even know it.
Agreed. But Amazon buys the product from them so the return policy is Amazons and goes back to their warehouse so it makes sense.

I recently purchased a cab rack from Hooke but it was as too high for my ikamper to clear it. This product was never used and in original box yet I was told I could not return it to Hooke. If purchased on Amazon or Walmart I could return with no issue but since purchased directly from Hooke they asked me to try to resell it since my return was for personal reason. The phone number listed is not real or no one answers. Only google voice. This is a bit discouraging and I strongly encourage them to rethink their business and others to be very aware of purchasing from them!
Hooke has been an PITA MFG since as long as I've known about em. I always wrote them off as a ugly/angry jeep style brand. Not a quality offroad hardware/armour MFGer

That makes sense. In my case, I drove an hour to the manufacturers warehouses and dropped off the return in person. They had a massive warehouse(think, half a city block) since they also supply to Home depot as well as Amazon.

If everything is in their return policy window, then call your cc, tell them all the details, and issue a charge back.

I tend to agree with you that something is missing.

The OP says they need to return it as it won't let their ikamper clear. But they also said they never opened it. So why did they need it to be delivered to determine that? And more to the point, how were they not able to determine that before ordering? To me, the only reason you'd find a clearance issue after delivery is if you opened it and started installing it.

So this leads me to believe one of two things is happening here:
  1. OP opened the package and began installing, discovered the clearance issue, and now can't return it.
  2. OP is unwilling to pay the return shipping and restock fee.
I guess it's possible it's neither of these options, but something just isn't adding up here.

That being said, I still wouldn't buy anything from Hooke Road.

Sometimes one has to own the mistakes they make. Seems to be a sliding scale of responsibility that the higher the cost of something is, the less one want to take ownership of it and slide back to someone else. At least that is how I interpret this situation.

I bought a roof rack from Hooke Road for my Mojave in November 2023, and although the design is good, several pieces arrived a bit bent. I straightened them out with little effort but five months later the paint on the those sections of the parts had started to lift and rust was developing under the paint. I was forced to scrape, and and repaint the whole thing to make it look decent again.
In conclusion, Hooke Road products are a good looking, budget friendly, MEDIOCRE option with less than adequate customer service.

The aforementioned manufacturer I had a problem with also had this same return policy. However, they said my product was “exempt” and apparently, that particular return policy verbage on the product page is something they just put on all their products. It took me two weeks of emails and phone calls before I finally got to a manager who approved my return. You just need to speak to the right person.
