Quadratec 12v Adapter Verify

So running wires for a dashcam and went to try and power it with the adapter and it did not come on. So first thing I do is break out my multimeter to verify if there is power at the contacts and I am not getting anything. I verified I still have power with it in place at my cigarette lighter. So shouldn't I be able to get 12v on the screws or just touching the metal inside? If not what is a better method to test? I also checked the fuse, it looked good but using the multimeter tested for continuity throw it and that was good.

There is not much there. I would finish continuity checking point to point on the connector ends. Should not be too hard to figure out.

Thanks will try that tomorrow, just confused on why I am getting nothing at the contacts. I would think I should get 12v or so but I get nothing.

If you are getting 12v in the lighter socket, with the adapter installed, then you should be getting 12v at the two screws at the end of the cable. If not, there is a defect somewhere in the adapter harness.

The 12v lighter socket is switched with the ignition. It has to be in the Aux or Run state to get power.

Yea that is what I am thinking. I can't imagine the metal being insulated to that level. Will tear things open tomorrow and do some diagnostic checks on it. Be upsetting I spent more for the Quadratec one thinking I would have less problems.

That's what I would have thought. Sometimes you have better luck with the cheap stuff.

I don’t understand how you get voltage at the fuse but not at the contacts. Bad connection after the fuse?

The contacts on the fuse are small I did is pull the fuse and check continuity on it. Guess that is another test I might try, bridge the gap where the fuse is and see if I get current.

Any pictures of yours? You verified all the pins are in the correct positions on the y harness?

I has previously bought the Quadratec one for my JK. I can't tell the difference and the one I just put in the JTR works just fine.
