Two other things to research: amp draw vs. pull, and weight on the front end. I got a 12k winch because its amp draw was lower at most pull weights than a 9 or 10k winch. I went with the Arcus front bumper to save weight. Winch plus Arcus added 101 lb, vs. the stock plastic bumper, and dropped my Mojave 3/8 inch at the front of the fenders.

I have the factory installed bumper that has the removable winch plate so hopefully the added weight will just be the wench and mounting components. I haven’t made a purchase yet so I’m glad you all had some recommendations. I am like you not likely to have to pull it from the mud but you never know. I can think of many things I might be able to use it for around the house though.

Please post some pics when you get your project complete. Here are a few pics I snapped during the install.

I just got my 12k Badlands Apex on the 25% off Labor Day sale, and I was perusing old posts to see what it will take to mount it up. So many posts mention having to trim the clutch lever, re-route the solenoid wires, or redrill the mounting plate. Did the Bulldog plate plus Rugged Ridge spacers allow everything to bolt up without reengineering half the setup?

Yes with the Bulldog winch plate and the Rugged Ridge spacers there is plenty of room for the clutch lever, no trimming, no drilling needed. I did however relocate the wiring to the side. It probably would have fit but with it on the side it looks clean and absolutely no chance of interference. I did the relocation while waiting for my winch plate to arrive.

Your bar didn't hurt the clearance any, either. That's the sort I want to get some day. My lever is already trimmed but your bar just looks nicer. I also like how it's closer to the tow hooks.

As far as the power cable - it can be done without moving it, but it would still be really close if a person wanted to pop the grill out in the future.

Nice install man! What's involved with the wiring relocation? I just picked up the winch and much prefer to keep it clean if possible. Just carve out a new hole for the wires on the side? Do you have an pics of that by chance?

Yes just took a step drill bit and bored a hole to just a hair bigger than 1/2 inch. There is a couple videos on YouTube showing the process. I picked up a plug for the original hole in the back from Lowe's. Sorry, these are the only pics I have.

ignore the silver wire - it's holding the end of the rope up out of the way.

I have an assortment of grommets with no center hold cut out and used one of those to plug the back hole. A piece of dense foam plugs the slot for the small ground wire.
