I don't want to drive a thousand miles and not have the screen and nav. Nav and the larger screen with the expanded options is for people who travel and tow and go places they've never been.
My last few vehicles, including my 2012 JKUR, had the Nav systems. I almost never used them. I have a phone that has a better nav (Waze) that better accounts for real-time traffic systems and work-arounds. I also like it better than the stock nav systems because I have a $5 phone-holder from Walmart that suction-cups to the windshield. I don't have to look down at my nav screen. I just have to look a few degrees to the right while still seeing the road ahead.

What else is it about the larger screen that makes any material difference?

I'm often in places where I don't get cell service to my phone. If I wheel the thing, those times will increase. I like having factory NAV in these situations. Better stereo options with the 8.4 as well, I believe.

You can now get the 8.4 with nav on the sport s. As well as the body colored fenders if you dont get max tow.

Ok well since we’re still talking about it. And we have some that know quite a bit about the sport s and the overland packages. So what about the premium led package can you get that on the sport s?

Fair enough. But my phone nav works often when there is no cell phone coverage. Also, most places I go off the grid, the vehicle navs just show green, as they are backwoods logging roads.

No LED headlights for the sport(s). Also can't get soft touch doors and dash, rear USB, jeyles entry, and factory leather. Also lsd not available on manual sport but is available on overland spor . No AT tires for overland 18 inch wheels from the factory.

That's my thing - plus I can SEE the nav screen and it shows my next turn right in front of my face. Since I watch tach and speedometer now and then as well as other gauges, the nav is right there between the tach and speedo when I need to turn or pay attention. Otherwise it talks to me. Phone - well, when you are this age and blind in the right eye - anything like a phone to the right is worthless as heck. The nav screen solves that as well as displaying my next move right in front of my face in the cluster.
I know most diss the built in nav - but for some, it's a nice and rather handy (or important) thing. Again, please consider others may have different eye sight or needs or abilities.

As far as phone nav - that doesn't rely on the cell service, does it? Thought that was location services independent of cell reception. Hmm, will have to try that.
Another plus for the phone nav - it will be updated free with each phone and app update so constantly current (or should be)

Pros and cons, each has their preference, no right or wrong, eh?

Overland sport?

No factory leather but for the same price you can get Katzkin (sp) - which is very nice. My dealer said if I went sport (before my wife got involved) he'd get me leather for the same price.

Limited slip - be careful before you choose that option on these things with traction control, etc. - not really needed and is actually worse on ice than an open differential.
The truck will take care of the need for limited slip in many cases and walk you through even in 2wd.
I had it in my Chevy so included it in my JT and now wonder if I should have skipped it.
I always install it in my performance cars because I want a straight launch off the line but for a truck, well........

Wave shows the turn right in front of my face too. You can SEE it. It's visual on the screen. And much closer to my safe field of view.

You realize that the phone navs have oral command options, just like anything else? "Turn right in 250 feet."

I turn it off because I don't like it, especially when I'm on the phone, and the turn "right in front of my face" display means I don't need it, but it's there for those who want it.

That is bone stock no option manual sport. 1535 is the max payload for the max tow and they dont exist.
1550 for a Sport S with max tow and automatic - according to the chart in my hand right now as I type (well, ok, I laid it on the arm of the chair to type this, but that's what it is).
1100 for Sport with tow package and Overland as well.
Max tow adds the wider axles and stronger progressive springs for the payload and towing.

I have the book in my hand if you want me to scan that page. 1550 is the max listed payload Sport S with max tow and auto.
With his options it may go down a bit, perhaps a few pounds. Many options are electronic or weigh almost nothing, so a payload on a max tow sport could easily be stickered at 1540 or more. Even going from manual door locks to electric locks would add maybe a couple of pounds tops - I know because I have all the parts and add power locks to cars now and then. They are not heavy at all.
Door stickers don't lie, sorry. Not sure where your info comes from - can you state your sources please?
My info came from Jeep, his came from his JT.
Please cite your sources.
He's posted his source, I'll scan and post mine if needed.

Basically, I consider the screen navs somewhat dangerous and have often regretted using them. You have to stare down for a bit to figure out something confusing in traffic patterns or road pattern. It leaves you vulnerable to hitting something that changes in front of you.

With the phone with a superior visual and (if you want) voice-activated system, you don't need to look down away from the road to see what's next. You just look a few degrees to the right while you still can see what is in front of you (e.g. rapid curves in the road or a vehicle stopping immediately). I had a vehicle a few weeks ago blow a tire in front of me going about 75 mph. He almost completely went out of control. Glad I wasn't looking down at a screen by my radio when that happened. The phone nav is in the same field of view as are are the vehicles/road in front of me.
