Had about the same mileage before and after adding a Rugged Ridge Venator front bumper and 12k lb winch, getting around 15-16mpg. There was a small window that I was getting 17 city but that was during the first weeks of shutdown.

Went to the Outer Banks this weekend, had the best mileage I have ever seen. 18mpg! Of course, this was with the flat beach roads. Dunno where they get this 23mpg highway number from.

BTW if you are wondering where all the Gladiators are...they are all in the Outer Banks.

PS. Went to Corolla, NC to drive on the beach and see the wild Spanish horses. Of course, airing down and 4x4 is pretty much a requirement...this Lexus didn't know lol

Yeah but not the Max tow. You can still only tow 4,000lbs, Max tow can tow 7650lbs and JTR can tow 7,000 lbs. Before I added the 35's and the lift I was getting 22 in mine total average
Unless, its a manual transmission, its 6k lbs. My Automatic Overland with the tow package has a 6k lb tow rating.

I stand corrected. I just assumed based on what they told me at the dealership that it would only tow 4,000lbs.

This isn’t directed at you...

Overlands get a lot of misplaced hatred. The only thing I didn’t like about mine was the chrome emblems, that was easily addressed, and the stock street tires (which are bigger than the Sport tires btw). I ordered 275/70/18 Revo 3s and those are bigger than the Rubicon tires and will make it look a hell of a lot better. I actually like the look of the Overland wheels with bigger tires on them. It still has HD D44s front and rear, track lock in the back, the fenders will clear big tires, it has ABLS up front, low speed crawl control, the offroad pages, etc. Its a capable, good looking Jeep that just happens to have a nice interior like a loaded Rubicon. My JKU was a Rubicon, but the incentives are so much better on the Overland that it was a no brainer. I could have fit much larger tires, but it’s my daily driver and I drive 20k miles/yr and I didn’t want to sacrifice too much power or mpg.

I do concede that I hate the Overland side steps. Mine came with the Mopar black tubular side steps that look way better. /Rant. Haha

I almost got one. If they had 4.10 gears I would own one, that's the only reason I bought the Max tow over the overland. No hate from me.:like:

Going up a few tire sizes, the 4.10s would be nice. The 8 speed auto helps a lot though so less of an issue than in the past. 4.10s and a 6 speed made my JKU Rubicon less anemic.

So another 100 miles of driving and zero interstate since I took the last picture on Monday. Still averaging 19.1 mpgs. I had it to 19.2 for a few miles, but I hit a incline and it went back 19.1. It's been fluctuating between 19-19.1. I may not mess with this setup. I want 37's but I'm loving this gas mileage. So freaking torn:headbang:

I drove to my storage unit today to pickup one of my surf-fishing rods for my buddy up the road (the one with the gator JTR) to borrow for his family's beach trip this weekend. And checked my Jeep's speedometer recalibration accuracy after adding the 37's and recalibrating with the Tazer JL Mini... Damn thing is 100% spot-on! I was surprised! Because some folks get out the meter sticks and the tape measures and all that shit and measure their's, I just punched in 37.00" and it's dead-ass on. I'm running my Kumhos at 45 PSI, but they're averaging 46-47 when warmed up. Hard to get them dialed-in perfectly.

Anyway, just wanted to share, thought it was funny how dead-on it is. I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh, and to keep on topic, I was averaging 15 MPG in a hilly area with lots of turns, curves, and a couple stop signs. Overall I'm pretty happy with my setup. I can imagine how how much better it will be with 4.88's.

How's it ride at 45 psi, I've never ran mine over 36. I had to set my 315 70 17 to 34 to get the speedo correct but I run mine at around 33 psi. They measured out at 34.2 at 33 psi

I running E-rated 37x13.50r20's at 45 PSI, and it rides like a dream... Same as stock, but stiffer in the RIGHT ways (cornering, handling, etc...). It's just as soft on the interstate. You would never know they were E-Rated tires running that high of PSI.

The Rubi front springs for your Max Tow with a spacer would probably be a good upgrade for you. Even offroad, just seems to float over bumps. I could imagine a great setup would be Rubicon front suspension with Max Tow rear suspension.

Don't beat yourself up, this confusion was the result of an error in early versions of the user manual that said all trims had a 4k lbs max tow rating except for Sport S Max Tow and Rubicons. Jeep has since issued an addendum with the correct ratings, but it seems like a lot of dealers never got the memo.

Well this is getting crazy to me since my JKU on 35's never got over 15 MPGs. Just moved up to 19.3 MPGs. Another 80 miles of driving. Held this for 15 miles so far, mainly city driving

Hah, we were one of them! LOL
1st time off-road with the Gladiator, 2WD or 4H and I ran through the deepest sand I could find without being a dumbass. Although, I did use the OffRoad+ to see what it was.

Fuel Mileage wise: We drove across country with trailer and avg. 12mpg.
Now that we're moving in normal conditions and staying speed limit + 5-10 over, our fuel mileage is good.
Down to the beach and back, over 20mpg with the stock M/Ts.
Highway speeds over 75 kills the mileage, brings it closer to 16-17.

500 miles to Alabama, I averaged between 16-17. That was with keep speeds between 70-75 most of the time. Maybe I don’t understand the shift points, but 70-75 should almost always be in 8th gear, with the exception of steep grades. The difference in rpms is only around 500 when doing 75 in 7th and 8th gear. Even if my speedo was off by 2-4 mph, that shouldn’t make a difference at that high of a speed. Right? This questions also for @Jeeperjamie
