As much as I'd love to get this from CMM , $102 is a bit steep for a ball mount in my world.
So i found this on the Ram Mount site.
Does anyone know the depth required for a stud to work on the bottom of the A pillar to use it as a mount point?

Thanks for any intel.

We all think CMM is too much and end up spending more re-engineering something inferior.

I love Jeeps because they're like guns. You learn to buy once and cry once.

CMM is top notch American made kit. Spend the money. Do it.

I was looking for the same. I reached out to Bullet Point Mounting Solutions, they stated that they have one in the works.

I looked at your link. I'm not sure exactly what you want to mount, but the standard for accessories that attach to the ball are usually 20mm. The one's on the Ram site were 1" & 1.5".

So just a suggestion, double check what size ball-mount works for the accessories you plan to use.

Good luck, let us know what you end up doing.

Ram Mounts makes Ram mount balls you can run an appropriate length bolt through. In the past I have used nylon/metal washers to act as spacers to get the correct mounting depth. Not as pretty maybe, as CMM, but substantially cheaper and works just as well.

Also, the Ram Mount web site has an extensive selection of Ram Mounts to choose from.

Trust me, i love buying local. I bought a CMM ball for the grab bar and have no complaints. At least none that is their fault. I over torqued it one day and have now stripped the threads on the handle. My fault, not theirs.
I thought that ball was a bit much, but i appreciate the skill required to make them and the $$$ for the tooling. But man $100 vs $12 is a big leap.
I also am of the school, buy nice, cry once. Spending the money for a good optic vs a different bolt though is a bit different.

Side bar: does anyone know what is threaded on the grab handle? Is it the handle itself? Or is there an insert behind the handle? Looking for an exploded view to how much this screw up of mine will cost me.

First world problems.

Thanks all

Try this! I have 2 and they work great. I discarded the included phone mount and added a 1/4” ball mount from Amazon to attach my Garmin InReach. I’m 99% sure it’s not US made, but the price might be right.
