So I’ve reviewed all the product requirements and came up with this:
1603252754733.jpeg

And this is why it will never actually happen. If Steve Jobs had listened to what people THINK they want, Apple wouldn't be worth $2T and their stock wouldn't have paid for my house.

People have no clue what they actually want.

Make it waterproof, ½ the size while keeping all that functionality and charge $5.00 for it and everyone will think about buying it

Also, mine is waterproof, and I think I saw something about Jeep saying it is, but not sure. I've worn mine into a pool with no issues. I opened it and no water was inside. Unlike our BMW fob, and my previous JK fobs.

I will reuse the factory internals, there will be no need for rekeying.
Whats your aprox design envelope dimensions of the internals and antenna (if it has a separate one off the PCB), with and without the metal key? Thats really your driving factor if its worth the effort.... I dont have a JT yet so i cant just open my key up to see.

Really cool/quality prints by the way!

Jeez, it almost sounds like you like your gigantic switchblade stabbing key fob :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

I do. I mean, I don't care about the size either way, but there's nothing I dislike about it. The switchblade thing is great, unlike the stupid BMW thing you have to pull out. For example I use BOLT locks that use the factory key, so I don't want to mess with the stupid AJT thing.

Is a light really necessary? I've never had a key with one. It'll add cost, complexity and size. Hell everyone has a flashlight on their phones.
Absolutely, this isn't the 1800s dude. The light also needs to illuminate the beer bottle opener, and project at least 100 feet. It should also be able to change colors and Bluetooth sync to the audio system so you can point it at your camp disco ball and really get things rocking.

Ohhh... that’s what you forgot - just before the kitchen sink - include a phone! JK!

I am not getting too excited about the fringe features but they're on the list. We're focusing on making the fob smaller while not losing the key. Being in the product innovation industry we'll push it a little further but only because we have the capabilities and only to the extent that it makes sense. The complex and cost adding features will get ruled out, naturally.

Our team has fun with this stuff. So adding the feature of a smartwatch or cell phone capability is great! :CWL:

1. FOB As compact as possible
2. Incorporate factory key for easy use (slide-out)
3. Accommodate each of the JT/JL FOB designs (no button, 3 button, 4 button remote start)
4. Low price

If you got this far down this list I think you'd have a winner. Very interested to see your product development process through this.

How about doubling as a bong for our legal state friends? :giggle:

In all seriousness, I find this interesting... just can’t help with the humor too.

I’m interested, if it shrinks the form factor down that will make me plenty happy. I don’t care so much about colors since it’s in my pocket or bag, but I guess a grey to match my sting grey would be cool.

Will your design still have some sort of water/splash protection? I don’t plan on taking it swimming but there’s always the random adult beverage danger!

Oh speaking of... an integrated bottle opener?? But not if it affects the size!
