Hello all, new to this forum and new Gladiator owner. Have previously owned two JL's. I'm interested in putting on the Mopar 2" lift to fit 35 inch tires, and in conjunction I'm interested in a re-gear. Mine came from the factory with a 3.73 gear ratio which I know some say is sufficient but I'm not of that mindset and think at least 4.56 is necessary, if not 4.88. I know the 4.56 gear set is not sold as a Jeep Performance Part but the 4.88 gear ratio is available through Mopar and is even in the catalog. My question is whether anyone in Michigan knows of any local-ish dealerships that would be willing to/have experience with re-gearing the Gladiator. Or does it even matter - does a new gear set void the factory warranty no matter where installed? I spoke to one dealership and they were happy to sell me the lift but said no to the re-gear. Thanks to all, love reading the forums!

Check this place out…it’s in Lansing. I don’t have any personal experience, but I have called with some questions and they definitely seemed experienced and knowledgeable if you plan on doing a regear

Dealers generally won't do gear set changes simply because their techs aren't trained to do gears. The necessary tools and intricacies of gear setup aren't ptrovided by the manufacturers' service training orgs any longer. The factory will just have them swap out the entire axle assembly.

As for your situation: 1) we run the Mopar 2" & Fox kits on our five JT tour vehicles. We love the suspension, although the Fox's weep a bit. I may install the latest one with the Bilsteins on me personal '23 Willys. 2) Before you regear try running the 35s with your 3.73 gears. You must reset the PCM for actual tire size. You may find it to be more than ok as it is. Regearing is a good time to add lockers, even if you won't use them much. Helps with resale value.
