Recall # 21D - Anyone completed recall process for electric hydraulic power steering pump?

In Key Jeep in White River junction VT at 8:30. Out by 9.
Barely had time to look at their new jeeps on the lot.
I likey the Mojave.
All is hunky dory with mine.

I’m going ahead and getting mine inspected as soon as Jeep can get it into service. 1 less thing I have to worry about IF I have an issue with a flaming Jeep. It’s been in, looked at, and I’ve got the documentation to prove it whether they say it’s good or not. When it comes to something that can take out a product worth $10k’s I want as much documentation as possible. Due diligence prevents getting dodoed on later.

If it needs a harness or pump, you will be leaving your jeep with them until the parts are available according to Dirt Road Cred YouTube channel if I remember correctly as to what they reported.

The recall has the 1st step = Inspection of the wiring and connector at the Pump. Must be on a lift for tech to inspect. If NO pull back or burn on the wiring or connector.. Recall is completed. If wiring or connector shows any irregularities then the 2nd step is required = replace the wiring harness and the pump. Mine was done last week and all was OK, No further action required.
BTW I know the tech personally, he is fully certified by FCA / ASE fully certified, and I was under the Mojave when he inspected and he highlighted the areas of the inspection.

Lucky you, that tech sounds extremely rare.

Wrangler - it checked out good or passed. The open recall dropped off CarFax.

Gladiator - checked out good also, but recall is still showing as open on Carfax - it was just picked up late yesterday so probably has not had enough time to get removed from Carfax yet. Had rear locker light issue taken care of under warranty too while they had it.

Got the notice. Inspected it myself. It's fine. No dealer needed. If I ever sell it I'll do the "recall inspection" just prior to clear it.

How are they legally doing this? Mechanics lien until they clear it? Not sure how they can take property from the registered owner.

They classify it under a safety issue, and if you still elect to leave with your truck, it can lead to loss of warranty and a flag sent to the state that you are driving an inherently unsafe vehicle.

Sort of like leaving the hospital AMA. You can, but there will be repercussions.

Got mine done. Took a few seconds, literally. No need for a lift to inspect, tech and I inspected together. Easy peasy.

I just looked at mine (23 Sport), looks fine, like the "good" photos in the recall instruction. Super easy, didn't even have to remove the air box as the instruction said; the connector is visible on the side of the pump, though a flashlight is needed to see it clearly. Just to be sure, I poked my borescope down there for a close up look, still looks good. Eventually when I have time I'll let the dealer look at it and bless it officially, but until then I'm not worried about my truck catching fire.

Got my letter the other day. Called the dealer today, and have an appointment on 8/4 at 8am. Dealer said it should only take an hour.

I picked up my Jeep yesterday after the paint work was done and asked if they did the recall inspection too. No, of course not. But we can get you in October 8th! LOL!

IMO..That is F"ing Sad and Lousey; but that seems to be common in Tex Ass. . BTW 2 ways to inspect, 1 being the factory way on a lift and an unapproved visual is pull the airbox and air tube to the throttle body can see the pump and connector.

My neighbor had his inspected, they removed the entire air box system.
