@LostWoods : thanks for the detailed explanation of the difference between digressive and linear/progress shocks; great posts that will help many (including myself) choose which type works best for our needs.

@hjdca : hurry up and get that lift installed! I want to see and hear your impressions.

I finally received all the parts - Clayton 3.5" overland plus kit and the SP2 3.3 Falcon Adjustable shocks. I plan to do the install this weekend.

Note: Since, I had to wait for the lift, I decided to install my Warn platinum winch, and Rockslide Engineering steps with armor last weekend. That stuff weighs a ton. I did not bother to measure, but, I can tell that the front of my JTR is lower, maybe 3/4" drop now... I can also kinda feel the extra weight of the winch sometimes with that wallowing feel of the JTR. I am really looking forward to the springs and shocks now. My JTR springs and shocks feel weak with the added weight of the winch. I did some light wheeling with it and the front end hits the bumps stops much easier now. We can only compare the amount of lift, and what kind of ride I get on the shocks with this additional weight now, so, it obviously is going to be much, much better, since I think the stock JTR springs and shocks are weak for the added weight of a winch. The winch and RSE steps with armor were part of my plan, so, I can only give you an evaluation of the ride that is close to my final build weight.

I Finished the Clayton 3.5" Overland Plus kit over the weekend and I had the Tires and wheels installed - Goodyear MTR Kevlar 37" with newly released Method 703s with bead grip.
I drove about 40 miles on the street. The lowest setting on the Falcons is exactly like the stock Rubicon suspension without the winch and RSE steps and armor. You cannot feel the winch up front and it rides just like stock. My girlfriend it says it seems softer than stock, but, remember, you have to account for the winch and heavy RSE sliders with armor. The rest of the settings on the Falcons will get firmer. These shocks and Clayton springs are a perfect setup for a winch up front.

I have installed a fair amount of lift kits in my day and this is the nicest one I ever came across. Top notch parts and great engineering. Control arm length settings from Clayton seem absolutely perfect. I am getting the gears changed (5:13s) and alignment on Friday, but, I bet it does not need an alignment. I am super happy with my decision. I should get if offroad soon.

Looks great. Will be on the lookout for more updates. I like the wheels. I have the mr 305 wheels that have the fake bolts. I'd have preferred those but am blacking out the bolts. Someone ordered them locally but never picked them up so I got them for a hair under $180 a piece so hard to pass up. Strongly considering going the same route you did. Let me know how you feel about the gears because that is absolutely on my list.

Wheels - new 703 Methods - the bead grip are really amazing. I watched them mount the tires and the Goodyears mounted first on the inner bead ! The Kevlars were tight on the rim. It took a while and a bunch of air before they popped to the outer bead. Super excited about this combo. The bead grip is the real deal. Shout out to Dan, Doug at Discount Tire and Manny at America's tire. Those guy helped a lot with the spare tire situation. Today, we went for a 60 mile drive through the canyon and I settled on setting 2.3 upfront and setting 2.1 in the back for the Falcons. Each setting change can really be felt.

Only worry is that Metalcloak calls for no more than 4.5" backspacing with their 3.5" lift and those are 4.75"... probably close enough so I might be adding these to the short list.

No problem on clearance with my beefy Clayton arms with the JT Rubicon. Method only makes one size for the Jeep. If you have the Rubicon wide axles, I doubt you will have any issue.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. If the universal response from them is 4.5" backspacing, I'm guessing that's what the standard axles require and the wide axles can get away with ~5.0" or so.

Thank you for the shout out as well as the outstanding photos. I agree the Method wheels with bead grip technology are amazing. I run them on my side by side and love them.

Thank you for your business.
