I put some graphics on my hood this weekend. In the process I had to remove the hood liner.

While I had it apart I decided to pop out the hood vents too and take a look at them.

When I put them back in, they fit a little loose. Can wiggle around by hand. They both have a gasket on them that looks pretty emaciated from heat and age.

I figured either the gaskets have an adhesive or are thick enough to seat them in snug.

I looked on Google for the gaskets but can't even find a parts diagram showing the gaskets.

I can get some 3m tape, but am just wondering if anyone knows the pn for these or has had a same experience.

find some 1/4" wide weather striping and replace the seal material. it is what I ended up doing after removing my vents to open them up.

That is what I was thinking about doing. Just thought it was odd they were so loose and there isn't a on for the weather stripping from Mopar.

So after you reinstalled you had the same loose fit?

I was worried it was cause I cut the bottom. But I had only modded one so I put the uncut one back in and same loose fit.

The vents are purely aesthic and not intended to be removed and replaced. As such, the seal material likely comes already installed, which means ordering two new vents to get a factory like fit.

Sorry was not clear on that. Removed mine to open up the bottoms and they were loose on reinstallation. Added the weather stripping and popped them back in. Tight after that.

Hi guys,

I'm not super knowledgable about cars in general, could some one educate me on if water pouring through the unprotected hood vents be an issue? I can see that with the S&B Cold air Intake & the Hood scoops there might be a high chance of even light rain entering the intake.

Jeep's factory vents don't allow that, I'm thinking there might be a good reason for that or are they just overly cautious?

Thanks
