What are dealerships getting these days for replacement key fobs? The dealership where I purchased my JT lost the 2nd key fob and just sent me a check for $218 dollars for the replacement. I'm guessing it'll be more like $300. Anyone replace one of these recently?

Don't cash the check, make them replace fob at no cost to you.

A new OEM fob can be had for $134, then the valet key has to be cut (extra charge) and the fob and your JT have to be mated (extra charge).

Bought at Estes didn't you? Make them do the dance and get the fob and set it up for your truck.

I am with the others. Do not cash the check. They need to source, setup and cut the blank plus have the lost FOB removed from the stored list for security reasons. $218 is not going to cover all that.

WTF, sent you a check? That would have been a hard no from me. I would have asked them WTF they were thinking in that sending me a check would be an option.

I just had mine replaced a couple of months ago for $335. I didn't go to a dealership though, I had a locksmith do the replacement.

So what are ballpark figures for cutting and mating?

The only leverage I have is a bad Google review, which seems to have gotten their attention.

I plan to price it all out Tuesday and if the $218 doesn't cover it, I'll give them a chance to make it right. Otherwise, the Google review will get even worse.

I wonder if the dealership will be worse.

They are not a Jeep dealer. So if it won't cover it, I'll go back after them for the difference. I'll ask the Jeep dealer about removing it, but I'm not too worried being that the other fob was lost in the middle of BFE Illinois.

No. I think Estes would have taken care of this better. At least that's my experience with their Chevy dealership years ago, and Big Bill still owns the place. I bought it at a tiny Chevy dealer in the middle of Illinois.

They know they didn't make the deal right, hence the check. Even if you decide to do it on your own, you still need to have them remove the missing fob from your JT computer, or you could wake up to an empty driveway. With that missing fob, anyone that has it can drive it off.

You have more power than that, you'll be getting a review questionnaire that they put a LOT of stock in.

All in, to have the key fob done complete by a JEEP dealership you're looking at $350-$400.
Hard part around Indy, is finding a locksmith that will do it. I've found several that can do laser cut keys, no one wants to do the programming.

Reason I mentioned Estes, besides you being in the 'burg, I went to look at a new Rubi in '20 out there and they lost both keys to it. Didn't know it until I asked to drive it because I was the first to look at it.

Took them 2 weeks to get new ones from JEEP.
