Rock Rails Thread

The Shrockworks rails look like a quality product, although the one thing I'm not crazy about is that the pinch seam is left exposed more than I would want. Just a "looks" preference is all.

I would imagine a bedliner coat along the seam could hide that and add protection.

Yeah, it's not as drastic in person. It does show towards the rear of the slider in front of the rear wheel wells. These were definitely built to accommodate guys running big tires and flexing. Both front and rear are just a little short where people will trim the stock slider and pinch welds. This will probably annoy people who plan to stay stock or a small lift. I had to trim my factory slider on my JKU by about 2 inches when I went to 35's before I went to a frame mount.

I spent hours shopping, and every time I see the Ace pictures I like them more and more. But my god, the price is just insane! With delivery, we're looking at over $800!! Anyone know of a reseller that might have a better price or shipping cost?

So has most given up on ROAM then? I love the look of them but I find it crazy they are not catering to an upcoming section of the market with the Gladiators.

Also I have seen the Go Rhino DSS4576T Dominator DSS Rock Sliders mentioned once or twice. Are those not a viable option for many people? I mean the price point is the best of all options and for a full length steel step they don't seem bad.

I gave up on ROAM. Sent them an email almost 2 weeks ago to find out when their JT rock rails were coming out, and got zero response.

If a company can't reply to a simple email (even an auto-reply saying it will be a bit before they can get back)... that's not a company I want to do business with.

So I went ahead and just bought the Rock Hard 4x4 sliders.

Agreed. Rock Hard is one on my list so far. I'm looking to maintain a rock slider but to dual function as a step. I think the Rock Hard angled down would serve both those purposes for me.

Yep, my thought process was the same. I got the angled down version so my family and I could use it as a step while having it serve as protection for the Jeep when offroading.

My set should get here sometime this week so excited to get them.

I looked at GoRhino but the best price is for unpainted, and they use only 3 out of 4 pinch weld positions. Rock Hard powder coats in-house, very strong yet economical in design so weight is reasonable. Depending on whether your JT is lifted a lot, either angled up or down would be best. They put a slight "kink" in the box tubing to follow the body line and they give a perfect fit. I believe I could jack up the Jeep using them. The only change I made was to buy grade 12.9 allen bolts from McMaster, and installed with grease on the threads, paint on heads and bodies. I installed them by myself and I am no strong man type. I lifted with a floor jack in the middle and put jack stands at the ends, tilted and slid the studs into the pinch weld holes, then started some bolts and nuts. I had never bought from Rock Hard before but I am impressed with their design, engineering, and quality. Also, they are built in Nebraska.

I like theirs and they are similar style to ROAM, but their price was insane for their step sliders.

1300 bucks for what? Some rock light mounts? I mean I’m as impatient as the next person, but that’s just getting bent over. They couldn’t even include the damn lights for that price?

Our JL Side Armor Steps (JL Body Mounted) and our JL Rock Rails (JL Frame Mounted) are actually two different product lines, and while the ROAM JL Side Armor Steps are powdercoated, the ROAM JL Rock Rails are e-coated and then powdercoated.

Our E-Coat process is an industry first (within the US) and is rated for >2500hrs+ in a corrosion test chamber and should beat any other surface coating technologies currently used in the market. While there have been a small percentage (between 1 and 2 percent so far) of users whom have experienced some surface rust on the ROAM JL Side Armor Steps (JL Body Mounted), to date, there has been no reports of anyone with a production set of our JL Rock Rails whom have experienced any rust issues because our JL Rock Rails are E-Coated. This is because the E-Coat process is not only significantly more resistant to rust altogether, but also because during the E-Coat process, the entire structure of our JL Rock Rails is submerged and then rotated for 100 percent coverage. The E-Coat solution itself is also far more environmentally friendly than powdercoating; E-Coat solutions in general are also inherently more inert than powdercoating and is not sacrificial in nature."

Sadly, a year later and they're still not ready. Called the other day, and they're .. "not even working on that product currently". Really wanted these - HUGE, disappointment.
