Hello all. I’ve almost made up my mind on purchasing a Clayton kit. Not sure what shocks to pair with it but I’m wondering if anyone has specifically paired the Rocksport reds with it? Also looking for any input on the Rocksports and first hand experience in how they compare to other shocks in the market.

Clayton is known to have “stiff” spring rates. I talked with Metalcloak and they told me theirs, they’re nearly identical in the front but MC is much higher in the rear. However I still suspect they would work fine. Another concern is the large amount of down travel, not sure if the Clayton springs would be ok with that. The rocksports are approximately 1.5” more longer when extended than the fox 2.0 shocks Clayton offers with their 3.5” kits and they’re about identical (around .25” difference) in compressed length.

I never mentioned anything about sagging? Why never use them? And that does sagging have to do with them?

Did you compare the free lengths of Metalcloak vs Clayton springs?

Metalcloak 3.5" front springs have about 3" more free length than Clayton 3.5" front springs (23.5" vs 20.375").

Metalcloak 3.5" rear springs are 21" free length, Clayton are 21.5".

I had those shocks on my metal cloak lift and they rode nice but were on the soft side.

They only lasted around 15k before the fronts were smoked. I replaced them with teraflex falcon 3.3's and I would highly recommend using those from the get go.

The rocksports are good riding but I would not expect them to last under harsh use. I do have a diesel and the added weight is veyr hard on the front suspension.

I’ve heard the 3.3’s are too harsh when paired with the Clayton lift which already runs a little stiff. I don’t want it too stiff. I thought about 5100’s to get by for a bit but thought they were a bit stiff when I’ve run them in the past. Was hoping the rocksports may be similar enough to the Fox 2.0’s that Clayton “recommends” but at about half the cost of the Fox.

Possibly I have all metal cloak and it rides amazing.
The metal cloak shocks are very soft.

falcon 3.3 in the softest setting is slightly firmer than the rock sports were. Much better mid compression and high speed control (dampening).

with the 40s aired down and shocks in soft it’s incredible on higher speed washboard roads etc.

I have a Clayton 2.5” lift with Bilstein 5100 shocks and I think it rides pretty good. It is a little on the firm side, but I don’t think too much.

I’m curious how the $50 BDS shocks ride. I’ve liked their cheap shocks in the past. They say they are valved specifically for the vehicle.

What shocks did you end up with? I’m running the Clayton Overland plus 2.5 with Falcon 3.1 shocks. The 3.1s are adjustable to firm or soft but don’t have the dial for incremental settings. My Rubicon with 37” Baja Boss at 27psi cold rides fairly stiff on soft and has me thinking about the Rocksport reds or grays. I’m waiting for a set of MC ball joints to come in and might order the shocks to do it all at once. Just curious what you ended up doing?

You can buy the dials for the 3.1's and have them recharged and "Waa Laa" 3.3's

Yes but the dials only allows them to be adjusted between the soft setting that I am on now and the performance setting which is the stiffest. My opinion is that they are a little too stiff even in the soft setting.

But the soft setting can be made even softer with the dials .

I don’t know what Fox shocks they use for the Mopar 2” lift but if you go off-road DON’T get those!!!!! Decent on road but they do not keep up with 37” off-road at all.
