Sounds great! Looking forward to seeing your Gladiator/SmartCap build! ?
I just installed my SmartCap EVOa. Installation went fine but I’m not sure about the final position on the bed. Is there any guidelines on measurement from the cab? Mine is fairly close to the back of the cab( 1” +-) because it looks better but although the tailgate seal is tight, there is a fairly large lip of tailgate exposed?
I washed it and I getting a very little water intrusion under the front two cornets.

In your second pic, I placed mine a little closer to the edge so the water beads off. I can take some pics in the morning to give you an idea more or less.

Thanks

So I would assume you moved in back from front cab a little more?
I noticed in the pic that my tailgate was not closed …. This is with it closed properly.

This is where mine sits. It is from the first production batch sent to the US. I pre-ordered and waited around five months for it. I use the Trail Rail clamps to hold it in place.

Mine is sitting a very little forward of yours and I also mounted to my trail rail!
Do you get any water inside when washing with pressure hose nozzle?
Thanks

Mr. Bill's install is spot on, that is also where mine is, moving it farther front makes the hatch tougher to fit right, also harder to clean the windows. Take your time and set it up right. I also was in the first order, we had a while to get it set up with the spacers just right. Mine does not leak anywhere when raining or using a pressure washer car wash.....Jack

I don't have any problems with water intrusion. The bottom of the door should be at the edge of the valley on top of the tailgate. I would recommend moving it further towards the back.

Here are a couple of photos of where I have mine placed. You'll see on the last photo, I messed up a lil' smooch with the seal. Haven't had any issues what so ever (knock on wood).

As JaxMax mentioned, take your time and set it up right. I moved mine back like this, haven't had any water intrusion, and I like how which I close the top half, it feels secure without latching it. It's a nice and snug fit (that's what she said...).

Thanks

X

I won't argue with a lawyer (mojave lawyer) :), but I agree with Mr. Bill's setup. Mine is pretty close to exactly as his is and I don't get any water in from rain, normal wash or pressure washing. The rear window hatch doesn't open on it's own with this setup on my 21 Mojave (snug fit as he mentions) but it opens and closes very well and has been working well for over a year now. I didn't like the cap sitting as far back as he has it, but that is a preference since his is also water tight.

Mine is more inline with the rear bed, but forward of the "lip" on the top of the tailgate. I installed the Frontrunner rack forward a bit to accommodate the layout with my OVS 270 Awning (drivers side).

Those looks sweet and would be popular I bet.

Has anyone installed these type side molle panels to their Smartcap ? I have the adventure series and curious how hard it is to drill through the gull wings doors.

One of our customers mounted the univeral BuiltRight molle panels on the Adventure cap. This does require drilling.
