I selected the pre-order option from the RSI website and had a response back within 24 hours. They asked if I wanted installation help, or if I could assemble and mount it myself. They hooked me up with a dealer, and I did the pre-order from the dealer site and paid the $100 deposit.

I tried to get in on the Gladiator pre order, what a snafu.. I was not contacted by a dealer after submitting the order but was contacted by an RSI rep a week later to be sure someone had contacted me. He then had someone contact me from Leonard that wanted a 50% deposit vs the as advertised by RSI $100 deposit to place the order. So, I said no and contacted the RSI rep about it and have yet to hear back..
At this point I’m thinking the RLD cap is a better route, I’m not confident that RSI has their N.A. Operations figured out enough to put my money down with them at this point.
Just as an update I did finally go ahead and order the cap along with a few accessories for it. I did not get it through the initial dealer who contacted me though as they were a bit shady in their sales tactics. Kar Kraft in Sanford NC is who I ended up ordering through and have been great to work with. They will also be painting it to match my Gladiator as long as their initial quote to do so is accurate but they have yet to see it in person so it may change. Fingers crossed for an Oct delivery so it can be a part of my Nov. trip

Exciting update! I received a call this morning from the vendor I ordered through, and they told me my Smartcap will be arriving at the end of September (October 1st at the latest)!

I'm very excited, I had feared there may be delays because of all the COVID nonsense still affecting things around the world. Sounds like I will have one of the very first ones here in Colorado...downside is now the next few weeks will DRAG, now that I know it will be here so soon!

I will be sure to keep everyone updated. I will also need to pull off my current bed rack and get that ready to sell as well...so if you know anyone interested in a Rebel Offroad cab height bed rack, send them my way!:rock:

Being in NC...I went through the same experience. I'm not sure if it's a regional issue, but I just contacted Offroad Alliance myself and placed my preorder. Very helpful group; great follow up and conversation.

No issues at all with my preorder experience. I too went through Offroad Alliance. They made it painless, and RSI has been great with keeping in touch with updates and information.

Me three. Offroad has been great (we had a few issues with online reservation not liking my Alaska address but a few simple emails and phone calls later it was all straightened out). RSI NA reached out after my initial inquiry on the website in a timely manner.

Compared to a few other options I was looking at and tried dealing with a few outfits- this experience has been MUCH better, and October can't get here soon enough. My RTT is open and ready in the garage....

Just for the purpose of expectation management: RSI said in another thread that their shipment is slated to arrive in the states on October 27th, so chances are you won't see any delivered/installed until November.

If that changes, hopefully RSI will chime in.

That is correct. The first shipment should arrive on October 27th, followed by 2 more that will happen throughout November. We need to allow for up to 2 weeks for customs and our distributor to process the inventory and get it shipped out to their warehouses throughout the US and Canada. We know you guys have been patiently waiting for these to arrive and we can not express how thankful we are for both your excitement and patience through the process. COVID has thrown us some real challenges over the past months, but we have driven hard to try and maintain our October delivery dates. While technically we are going to be a few weeks behind, we are coming pretty close to hitting that target date.

I'm curious about the state sales tax implications for the online orders (via your website) with the ship to home option. Are these purchases subject to sales taxes (or is this up to arrangements with individual states)? I've ordered some things for the Gladiator from vendors who don't charge Texas sales taxes, but I would imagine if a SmartCap were ordered through a local dealer that it would certainly be taxed. Can you clarify?

Good question. By the distributor that I pre-ordered from, I was told the listed cost was "all-in." Hopefully that is true.

Good question. I'd like the answer to that as well.

I was led to believe that the list cost was all-in by the distributor that I dealt with. They didn't mention any tax...and considering the price tag on this item, I certainly expect that they would have.

Hopefully, that's true. In my area, this would be about a $300 difference. Just trying to determine what I would need to budget for this cap.
