I was talking to the AMW folks about this exact thing a few weeks ago. I have a diesel and wondered what the impact/benefits would be.

What was the total cost for all of it? Also, don’t you need new cowlings?
Did it come painted or did you have to get that done?

Yes. THis is a list of parts needed for a Mojave hood swap.

This is good info and certainly something I did not originally catch. While there are a few more parts required it still looks very feasible to do.

Here is a running list of the parts needed thus far:

Hood 68338381AC
Bezel 68398765AB
L/Seal 68405001AB
R/Seal 68405000AB
Hood Liner 68346961AA
Push Pins x12 6504135
F/Seal 68295588AB
Side Seals x2 68272214AA
Cowl Panel 6NT06TZZAA
Left Cowl 6NT09TZZAA
Right Cowl 6NT08TZZAA
Lower cowl 68291874AC

This is the 392 hood, not the Mojave hood. They ARE different hoods.

Any fuel savings or horsepower added will be offset by the added 300lbs weight of this hood system. (I'm kidding- it's not 300lbs, but it is pretty freaking heavy!)

So call me ignunt but what purpose would the 392 hood scoop parts serve on a Mojave installation? Would it do the separation?

What an awesome project!!! I look forward to the finished product and your feedback on temps and performance.

You would do better to have the rammed air dump over a 2nd intercooler to help better cool the turbo charge like how the early 2000's WRX's did.
Current WRX’s have functional hood scoops with top mounted intercoolers.

Any way to make the charge air colder should have benefit on over all cooling/performance/derate issues.
Heat soak with a diesel, I’d imagine, might make a top mount pointless? Dunno.

I think it would require a LOT of trial and error and engineered flow/testing.

When it is said the 392 hood is not the same as the Mojave, they look the same, I had my Mojave parked next to a 392 with both hoods up side by side, took pictures but couldn't really tear into it as it was a sold 392 and dealer was nice enough to pop hood and walk away. If there is a difference other then Gladiator and Wrangler I think it would be possibly addtional studs welded under hood, to support some of the ducting.
This is still on my list of mods to do to my Mojave, just a partial , the hood entry and first section, with flaps, and cap driver side and put flaps there also.....Jack

Functional ram air intake just like the 392 has
Awesome, can you point me in the direction or a link where you bought that hood. I am currently putting together prices on a gladiator project. As I just to delivery two weeks ago my gladiator and sometime next year will be dropping the 392 in my gladiator.

Thanks

Have a new Gladiator diesel High Altitude on order. I've been waiting on my dealer's parts depaartment to see if this fits. Assuming it does, I want to bring some air in to the engine compartment as I understand these diesels, like others (have a diesel 2500 GMC Denali) create a lot of heat. Also like the look of this hood. What was the cost of this with everything? Have boxes of parts piling up already. One small box is a Bankes Derringer and pedal monster! Thanks

About $440 to buy the plastic parts that would give you the vent and also the flaps the 392 has to close when stopped, but not the section going to air cleaner. I'm thinking about fabbing the duct myself out of a thick piece of starboard. Hood is steel and very heavy, but the acorns and hictkory nuts along my driveway have not dented my hood , Wife;s Wrangler has not been so lucky, has a few and we do park in garage.....jack

It’s a lot more to lift then my wife’s JL, but I doubt 40 pounds.
