Probably all of these have been answered before but good to summarize:

Want to go bigger on my stock 23 Sport (not max tow, no lift). Looking at a local set of takeoffs (Falken AT LT285/70R17 on alloy wheels), but there's some question whether they're from a Rubi or Mojave... how do I tell the difference? I understand the Mojave has 1/4" more offset (true?) but are there other visual differences without measuring them?

Will there be any rubbing issues off-road?

Without a gearing change, I guess I'll lose a bit of performance (4% less torque at the wheels). Probably not noticeable?

But I presume I'll need Jscan or similar, plus BT dongle, plus security gateway to reprogram for the larger size?

I know I'll need to replace the TPMS sensors with the newer ones required by my vehicle.

Do you have picture of the wheels?
Rubicon and Mojave have different wheel appearance.

I’m running Mojave take offs on my 23 Sport, best decision I’ve ever made. No rubbing at all. I used JScan with the bypass cables everyone here gets off Amazon with my OBDLink Mx+.

Those look like the optional/"upgrade" wheels from the 20-23 Mojave. Like someone said, all Mojave wheels have 7mm (~1/4") less offset than Sport and Rubi wheels, so they'll poke out that much more, which ain't a lot.

I have Rubicon/Mojave-size tires (285/70-17) on my non-Max Tow Sport S, and yes indeed, the computer needs to be updated. Once the computer is set, any performance difference is imperceptible for me, as is towing, because my boat is only like 2000lbs. Definitely get two less MPG on the highway, but that's not a surprise, since I went from the skinny A/T-in-name-only tires to proper LT A/Ts.

Steering-wise, I don't rub control arms or anything at full lock. Fender-wise, I don't offroad enough to tell you, and even if I did, I also put on a Rubi suspension, so I'm sitting different than yours anyway.

Rubi take offs on my Sport S. I’ve been running them about 40K miles, no issues. I did not reset or reprogram the computer. My Jeep is a 6 speed MT. I didn’t notice any real performance difference other than being a little slower “off the line”. Once it got moving it seemed to accelerate and brake the same. I lost about 4 to 5 mpg. More than others are reporting, (due to the MT?). I’ve done some moderate off roading. No rubbing or concerns at all (and no overheated clutch 🤣). My driving is almost exclusively on pavement and I’m due for new shoes. I’m going toward Michelin LTX tires in the 265/70/17 size to win back some fuel economy.

It's likely you have taken a bigger efficiency hit from your truck being a manual. The AT has a wider ratio spread that better compensates for the increased tire diameter and weight.

The MT hits a 1:1 ratio in 4th compared to 6th gear in the AT. Having two extra gears before going into the overdrive ratio(s) is significant.

I actually had Rubicon Gladiator take offs on my JK sport. The were great wheels and tires and I hit them super cheap. I did see a drop in gas milage because I had the tiny 29’s. I really improved the look. The great thing about owning a Gladiator or Wrangler is if you don’t mind stock wheels and tires, you have a constant supply of dirt cheap new take offs.

Yep… paid $500 for mine with only 50-odd miles on them. I like the stock Rubi wheels.

MPG? You need to find Matt's (Gren71) research on tires. Goes back a few years.
I have a stock height 2020 Rubicon automatic running 285/75/R17 (33.9" tall)Yokohama Geolander's and get 19.5 mpg with mixed driving. Highway trips I am above 21 mpg. That is without recalibration. Again, more of a highway tread than a 'true A/T' but would do okay on trails. The 10 ply rating would take some abuse.

I have the stock Rubicon wheels, tires, springs, shocks, front steel bumper and rock rails on mine. The parts went on with zero issues and I didn't have to get an alignment. I'm very satisfied with how it looks and handles, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I got all of the parts on Facebook marketplace for a grand total of $950

Go for it OP. Nothing is gonna rub with your sway bar connected. For the minimal difference in overall diameter, I would do nothing but install and go! Those are the same factory wheels I have on my 23 Mojave :)

I ordered my JT with the "upgraded" Rubicon wheels because I was going to leave it alone. :CWL: I wish you were closer, I'd practically give them to you. Also Have a set of JL Rubicon wheels, they look pretty cool on JT's too.
