Hey there, I purchased an S&B intake for my ecodiesel and wanted to share my thoughts about it.
Install:
-Super easy!!!
-No issues with Fitment
Look:
-Obviously subjective
-I like the way it looks
Sound:
-I can now hear that turbo whistle!
-Sound levels are not all that much higher.
-During Spool up I can certainly hear it, but that’s exactly what I was going for.
-Under full boost it’s honestly not much louder than stock.
Performance:
-Tad (I mean Tad) less turbo lag.
-Full boost PSI is the same.
-No butt DYNO difference
-Hoping for a tad less restriction leads to slightly lower EGT / Inlet temps
Quality:
-Nice, zero fitment issues
Why did I buy this?
Mopar air filters are hard to come by locally, and they are a bit spendy, unless you shop online / get lucky.
Aftermarket filters for the ecodiesel are not well constructed at this time, especially the Amazon ones…..
The filter media is much larger, and thus will likely last a a fair bit longer than stock filters.
It adds a bit of uniqueness to driving my Jeep, I like.
I’ll report back in a few weeks on MPG, etc
Update :
I’m pretty sure I’m seeing a few mpg improvement, just took the same hilly route at the same speeds and am seeing 23.5 where I normally see 21. 60mile trip….
This is obviously preliminary… but I honestly think there is an improvement in MPG…. But my stock filter had 15k on it and was prob just clogged….
