It’s totaled. You can’t straighten that. You can’t section that frame.
You’ll hVe entire drivetrain from at least the transfer case back. Exhaust, new cab, etc
I agree with you, but the adjuster told me “oh we just lift off the cab, put it on a new frame, put on a new bed”. Oooookay.

The cab is clearly damaged behind the right rear door...

BUT, I'm curious: does the VIN run with the frame or with the cab? I'm surprised to hear that your "adjuster" wants to keep the cab and replace the bed and frame (and half of the drivetrain and exhaust system), but consider it to be the same vehicle...

Really sorry for you pal. So glad no serious injuries. Given the circumstances of the accident, I am really amazed at how well the passenger area kept intact and safe. All that in the rear end did an exceedingly good job of absorbing all that energy, albeit at the expense of totaling your rig. My brother in law died in a wreck last year. Driving a little Hyundai accent, head on collision at 55mph, no rolling or secondary accident. That little car looked like an accordion front to back. Just completely crumpled.

Best wishes and good luck with the insurance.

My limited experience/research is that when two different VINs are present, the cab wins. Figured this out when I was considering a hack/resto job. Not sure if it would even be an issue though if the factory provides the new frame; I was looking at a frankenstein situation.

Sorry to read bout your accident. I’m glad you apparently are OK.
Like was said above, medical imparments can manifest itself days and even weeks after an accident. Don’t sign off on any medical statements or recorded phone interviews, period.

Secondly, if you can, take it to the best repair shop in your area. If you don’t know who that is look to where the local Mercedes dealership (or other high end dealership) refers their clients to. Insist that only OEM parts are used. No aftermarket parts.

Thirdly, hopefully you can get a rental while all this plays out.

Best of luck!

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on Gap Insurance. Typically, you need Gap Insurance in the following situations:

1. You paid way too much for the vehicle
2. You put down little or nothing when you bought the vehicle
3. You were upside down on your trade and tacked the difference onto the new loan
4. You bought a GM sedan; especially a Cadillac sedan (those don't hold much value)

If you're not in the above categories, Gap Insurance is likely a waste of money. Gladiators and Wranglers hold their value pretty well, so I wouldn't expect it to be an issue.

And, yeah. Gap Insurance is usually separate from your vehicle insurance policy. Dealer's offer it and they really push it because they get a nice profit from selling the policy. It's all the part of the add-ons dealers offer like fabric protection, paint protection, credit life, extended warranty, oil change plan, windshield replacement, rust-proofing, etc. Most of this stuff is almost worthless. Some of it can be worthwhile, so do your research and determine what's best for you. (For example, windshield replacement on a Jeep might be a good idea. )

Good reasons I did not get that on my insurance coverage. Both my Wrangler and Gladiator are pretty well tracking above what I owe on the market. Getting them below invoice helped a lot in that regards. So 1 did not apply, 2 did, but evened out, no trade involved. I think my Wrangler is actually worth more than I owe and I have had it for just over 2 years now.

If your JT is repaired instead of totaled, then trade it for something else; there could be internal drivetrain damage that does not show up until later.
