I got hit from behind on the lovely parkways of Long Island back in August. Bumper, rear quarter and fender damage, but not much else (you should see the other guy). The only mechanical part that needed to be replaced was a left rear sway bar end link. It turns out Mopar only sells them as part of the set, so the other guy’s insurance had to buy the complete 2-inch lift kit for the Gladiator.

The new end link was installed, and the rest of the kit, crate and all, came home with me. It’s a kit for the diesel Rubicon from late 2022 with Fox shocks.

Question is: Do I hold on to the kit so I can swap it in when my current kit wears out (on since November 2020 with almost 110K miles), or sell it now and make a few quick bucks? I’m on the fence.

The only wear item that you’ll likely want to swap out are the shocks in my opinion. The lift kit is also worth nothing without the shocks to most people. I say sell the kit for $900-$1000, take the cash, put in a nice CD and then put into savings to replace your shocks when those wear out. There are nicer shocks out there for almost the same price.

I like the way you think.

@John in the Woods, how much more lift does the Mopar Diesel Lift Kit give above the factory Rubicon Diesel suspension? I see that it's advertised as a 2" lift, but the Rubion already has a good 1" suspension lift over other trim packages except the Mojave.

Actually, ALL parts of the lift are available from Mopar. I bought all the parts new, except the shocks from my local dealer for about $500 bucks. I installed the “kit” on my first (of 3) gladiator(s). Soo, a bonus for you, but not worth keeping as “spare parts”, those you can get cheaply as needed from the dealer (and the Mopar 15% coupon).

Now that I am on my third gladiator. I am planning on buying the parts individually again, but can’t settle on shocks, I used ICON on the first, I think I want to try the Falcon 3.3 this time around.

You'll get more than 2" from the kit. Guys have reported around 3" in some cases.

John. Sell the kit and use the money for other things. Investment or other mods. Maybe a nice dinner with a hooker and blow.

It's too bad your something like 2500 miles away. I'd be interested in making you an offer. But shipping would kill any good deal that we could make.

I'd probably just sell it. Then you can either have your shocks rebuilt or replaced when it comes time.
And yes everything in the kit can be bought piece meal. Somethings like the sway bar end links come in pairs. BAM has them or atleast did awhile back. There are threads on here with the individual part numbers.

Sell it for a good deal to someone else

I have the same kit and it's more than the 2" as a advertised... However you can buy the end links separate (ask how I know)

You know, when the dealer’s body shop told me that, it seemed suspicious. It seems they were just trying to get some extra profit margin from the insurance company.

I’ll hold it for a bit until the dust settles and I’m sure the insurance company isn’t going to call BS on the dealer. If all stays the same, I’ll sell the kit as a good deal for someone on here. The cash will be handy when my Baja Boss 37s need replacing. Their at 50K+ now, so that might not be too long.

Thanks to all for the good advice.

(And @biodiesel, I got about 2 1/2 inches of lift over the stock Rubicon height when it was installed)
