I was going to say you might want to look at having your Fox shocks rebuilt . I know this will cost you vs getting the cheaper oem replacements . Just a thought . I have the 2021 Mojave and I do not have a problem on how they perform .
The cost can be a wash. In fact, if you could find anyone in our state, it would cost less to buy new.
I can get a set of Bilsteins for less than the cost of rebuilding what are cheap shocks to begin with. Not so sure the cheap Fox on the Rubicon can even be rebuilt - I'd have to unbox mine and look but then, I would just rather they stay boxed until I decide how to get rid of them.......

Basic rebuilds are $110 from the little time I spent looking - goes up from there. So unless you have a quality shock, you can buy 4 Bilsteins for about $440.
Scrap the Fox.

BTW - beware of CHEAP shock rebuilds - those who say "I can do it a lot cheaper" are often just doing an oil change, doing just enough to get by. You'd need a complete rebuild on these Fox shocks and I still am not so sure these can be rebuilt or are even worth it.

Thanks, everyone. Sounds like the newer shocks are liked better anyways. I went ahead and gave them the go ahead to replace. Once my OEM tires run out I may consider fully upgrading the suspension.

The Fox OEM's and even the 2.0's IMO are valved way too soft. I'm currently on a set of Bilstein's and I personally feel they are a better shock. They are a bit harsher around town, but everywhere else they out perform the Fox. My suggestion is to take the warranty option or visit Northridge and go shopping for an upgrade.

I would do the following:
  1. Have them install the new shocks.
  2. Request they give you back the replaced parts. (They shouldn't have a problem with this)
That way you can decided for yourself. If you like the Fox shock ride better you can go find one and re-install them. Personally, I found the stock Gladiator Rubicon ride to be bad. Like riding in a '70s Cadillac with a blown out suspension...just kind of undulates down the road front and rear corners fighting each other.

Good luck!

You can ask but dealerships get audited for warranty part pulls by district reps and have to sometimes hold onto them before disposal. Customer is not entitled to warranty part returns since they did not pay for them.

I asked and they said I couldn’t keep them. I understand from the mfr standpoint.

Never hurts to ask. It makes sense since it's warranty work, I suppose like Hootbro said.

These are what they are installing on all new Rubicons. By most, considered to be better than the Fox Rubicon shock. I'd just take the red Tenneco's and call it a day.
FWIW, I just had these put on my Willys as a warranty replacement. Noticeably better ride than the stock. It did take an extremely long time to get them installed as it happened right as they were changing the mfg.

My 2023 Rubicon Gladdy fresh from the tractor trailer delivering it, came with the Mopar shocks. I questioned this. The Dealer showed me the parts list of my vehicle, no Fox Shocks. Then he got curious, and did a search of the other 2023 Gladiators that came from this delivery. The same, no Fox. His opinion was that Jeep doesn't use Fox anymore. Of course, he assured me that the Mopar Shocks were the top of the line, and better than the Fox, they are covered under warranty, and all that a dealer person would say. But, myself, I am happy with the Mopar Shocks. I thought they were just okay, till I drove on a dirt road at work, and saw the difference between the ride of my work truck, and my Gladiator. I think you'll be happy with the Mopar's.

They aren't MOPAR shocks, they are made by another company (Tenneco I believe was said) and MOPAR slaps a sticker on them.

Another disclaimer, OEM FOX shocks for a Rubicon are NOT rebuildable. FOX shocks purchased from FOX or licensed retailer that are above a certain grade, ARE rebuildable.

Thanks, everyone. I have the truck back with the red superseding part number shocks. Heavy rain last night so hard to say on the ride quality difference yet. I don’t go off-road (yet) so I will likely not be able to share any feedback there. The replacements are fully covered by a black plastic sheath it looks like.

I am in the same boat only i have been waiting since January 2023 for a single FOX shock. At this point I'd rather not have FOZ labeled garbage on my Jeep. I'd take these and wait to upgrade later. Anyone know the part number for tehse shocks so i can call my deler and tell tehm. They can't see to figure it out. Seriously have dropped my Jeep off 3 timess because they had they shock but ended up not having it. This delaer is a joke.

HAHA the plot thickens. The dealership called me to say they never knew FOX shocks came stock on the Rubicon and wanted to know if i had a lift because those are the only FOX shocks they know of. Keep in mind I have had this 1 shock issues on paper since January 2023. This is getting Laughable now. I am glad I can find some humor in this. What is funny is the parts catalogs are all liked to VIN number (at least it was when i did dealer parts for Toyota) you type in the vin and it gives you the catalog's for that specific VIN color/trim package matched. If part number changes that should pop up in their logistics platform, it does for my NETSUITE program. Maybe that's why its hard for me to fathom the disconnect between a parts department and the actual parts. FFS the part numbers are stamped into the parts. 9.5 months and no one thought to look at a new Rubicon stock shocks for a part number. I mean that's a worst case scenario. Anywho just venting. I never go to the dealer expecting miracles

It is my understanding that the Mojave shocks are true Fox shocks, whereas the rubicon ones were just fox badged mopar units. based on the change in the mopar 2", i'm guessing mojaves will get bilsteins instead in future. How that will impact us with old mojave foxes? who knows. "expect to get screwed whenever screwing is possible" is my motto when dealing with car manufacturers.
They're both true fox shocks and neither true fox shocks. The rubicon fox 2.0's were valved by jeep engineers but the body/valve/parts are true fox shocks. The mojave shocks are custom internal bypass shocks that dont exist outside of the mojave. They again use real fox parts and are built by fox, but were tuned by jeep not fox.
