My lease is coming to a end with this Jeep. Got it in March of 2020 right before the pandemic. I was in absolute love with the thing and told myself I'd buy it. Its a very low option Sport trim with the cold weather package, and hard top. I ended up putting the Mopar steel bumper, Factory LED heads and tails. Mopar 2in lift, adjustable control arms and track bar. Jeeps performance wheel with 35s, tri fold hard top cover, linx bed liner. Four years later Im honestly thinking about walking away from it. My buy out is 30k plus taxes. I've spent 23k on the lease and 10k factory upgrades so all in I'd be 63k granted one like this would cost me roughly the same if I were to buy it new today. I'd almost rather take the hit at 33k thats already spent and over with and move on. I don't off road, I don't camp, I don't tow I just think it looks cool but am getting tired of its ride for daily type stuff, I know I'd miss it in a way so go back in fourth with what to do? Whats your thoughts?

I don’t have a Jeep, yet, so I really cannot comment on the ownership experience and whether or not you should keep it moving forward.

What I can comment on, however, is your buyout. Jeep does not want your Gladiator back. The cannot sell the inventory they have now. If you do decide to keep the truck, I would renegotiate your buy back number.

100% here, that buy out is way too close to what you can get new with current discounts. If you want to keep it, make them an offer you can live with much less than 30k.

can you renegotiate a buy back price? That would be something to explore for sure. Thank you

so cool to see two different people say that, didn't know that was an option. If I can get that number to come down I would keep it for sure

With that low miles they are going to want it back for sure. They will make at least 5-10k on a resale
I would buy it out and sell it myself and use the profit for my next purchase

In contrast, my 2020 has 74k miles.

With all due respect, you’re either deluding yourself or have not looked at current gladiator pricing. They would not be able to sell his truck new for 40k. You can buy new Sports with a msrp of 50k for around 40k.

At least near me in Tampa, the bottom has fallen out on Gladiator pricing.

I understand where you got the $63K number, but right now the only question is would you buy the Gladiator as it sits for $30K, which is sounds like you would. In that case I'd be buying it. I'm pretty confident you could sell it for more than $30K right now, even in this market if that's what you wanted to do.

Another thing to consider, is a lot of leasing companies do not take kindly to modified vehicles... you need to look over the terms in your lease agreement...

I agree with this statement. I have a 2022 with 23K miles and considered trading and they only offered me $32,500. Even Carvana only offered ~$33.5k.

... but am getting tired of its ride for daily type stuff, I know I'd miss it in a way so go back in fourth with what to do? Whats your thoughts?
I'd get rid of it. Life is too short to have a vehicle that you don't really like.

If the ride is an issue, but you like the JT in general, then (IMO) just get a Mojave and be happy.
